This artist enjoyed some success here with the Goth and Welcome to the NHK novels, and seems to have largely continued in that vein, doing lots of short manga based on other people's work. Fascinating to see him wind up on something that appears to be targeting such a different demographic.

Oh? I wonder if the tone of this is similar to the melodramatic classics of yesteryear like Candy Candy, Perrine Story, A Little Princess Sara, and Nobody's Boy Remi. I have a terrible weakness for that type of story where everything falls apart, but the protagonist is stalwart and keeps trying to go for that happy ending.

Thank you for reviewing this! It sounds like something I'd really like and I can't believe I missed this one - must have gotten lost in the flood of new releases at the end of the year
