They're pretty clearly talking about music and both of your examples are acting awards. And yeah, it's a little strange that this strictly okay song for a strictly mediocre opening riffing off something way better is what gets the nod

Say what you will about Lazarus, believe me, I had a lot of problems with the series, but the soundtrack was great.
Now that I think about it, an anime series cannot be nominated at the Emmy's unless it's produced in the United States, right? It's not like the Oscars, but since Lazarus was produced by Cartoon Network it was eligible

I agree. While I'm definitely a supporter of the show overall (although I have my own critiques), the one thing that I don't think I can hate about it is the soundtrack. I'm surprised the OP got an Emmy nom, though. It's not going to win, I'm more than sure of that, but it is still interesting and cool that it even got one in the first place.

Well even if it is American musician, Kougeru's post make it sound like no Asian or Asian-American has never won an Emmy Award (which is how I interpret the user's post). I can't speak to the quality of the music because I haven't got the chance or nor watch the show. But I found the user's post sounded like a blanket statement/misinformation.

Jung Jae‑il was nominated for Squid Game's theme in 2022. Taro Ishida and Atticus Ross were nominated for Shogun's theme last year.

Same. Hey, whatever man, if it means more people can accept an anime winning an award in the west (besides a Ghibli film getting a Best Animation nomination at the Oscars whenever they release a movie)
