It hasn’t even been a year in-story. Honestly I think the author always intended for the story to take place over a single year but didn’t expect the manga to still be going 30 years later. |

I just find it weird that their choice for a 30th anniversary special is remaking an episode from 2015. Feels like there's a lot older stuff you could give the refresh to instead.

It's being created as a prequel to the Episode "ONE" Special which was made for the 20th Anniversary. Tying together anniversary specials like that makes sense in its own way. Episode "ONE" even featured a scene following up directly from the Aquarium case, so making a unique special for the case to pair with it compliments what was already done. |

This. If you read the early cases in the series, there are references to things happening "a few months" later. It's been no more than 6 months despite Christmas passing 3 or 4 times. In regard to the MC being a child, Kids literally look up to him. Yeah, it's a little mature to us in the west with the murders and whatever, but in Japan, Conan's an icon that you can watch with your family. |
