Fight choreography actually looks pretty good. I’m glad they’re embracing the extraness of the characters’ powers and allowing things to be flashy/silly.

I dunno. I think it looks as bad as the last one.

This looks absolutely ridiculous. Which I think is the point. Also making it a period piece (and probably the in-universe equivalent to UFC 1) is an interesting choice.

The first teaser already confirmed that this new adaptation was going for a more tongue-in-cheek tone, at least compared to other Street Fighter live-action adaptations which were more unintentionally campy, like they're aiming for the tone of Street Fighter II's peak popularity days, at least how it was perceived in the U.S., like the old G.I. Joe/Street Fighter action figure commercials or the U.S. Street Fighter cartoon, but honestly I never really liked the Western interpretation of Street Fighter's tone from the early days, which also comes up in some parodies like the character of Rumble McSkirmish from Gravity Falls or the OK K.O.! cartoon in general, those early interpretations always come from bad translations, weird localization changes and Westernized artworks, like I always believed that Group TAC's Street Fighter II MOVIE really nailed down the tone of the game in movie form. However, I do think this new adaptation could turn up good, since at least they're being more accurate to the game's look than the other live-action adaptations.

ngl original looks better.

Many of these new designs are just...off.

Also Raul Julia will always be the iconic Bison to me...he did villain perfectly.

Almost every live action game, anime, manga adaptation always seems to come off looking like high cost cosplay. Why does Hollywood try so very hard to cast actors into roles and try extremely hard to make them 1:1 with the character they are playing, instead of just letting them be inspired by their designs and doing something a little grounded?

I'm so completely disconnected from the movie scene that I didn't even know this was coming...
Doesn't look too bad for what it's supposed to be though, considering the original doesn't have that much depth to explore anyways.
Realistically speaking, this will follow the current format - which I'm sick and tired of, particularly trailers. This trend of using old songs redone to sound edgy I mean. harrumph
But you know what I mean - the general comic based movie thing, Marvel and whatnot.
And then, nothing will ever be as campy as the first live action movie with Raul Julia anyways, and the Chun-li movie was a complete disaster.
You also have the anime, which I don't think Hollywood will ever beat. But a comic-like live action movie might be the right direction here.
Weirdly enough though, it might feel a bit disconnected from the game nowadays because of how stylized it has become... they'd need someone like Snyder to really incorporate the style in there I guess.

Because then people complain that the characters aren't 1:1 adaptations. It's a no-win situation.

Honestly, I think it has just the right blend of camp and playing it straight. It should be fun.

Trailer was not great. M'eh music and choice of scenes playing too long.

The teaser was better.

I'm still in.

I'm all for a campy movie. But good camp still requires effort and good writing.

Camp bullship is the only way to make this or any fighting game adaptation work but this is leaning too much into the bullshit. KIng Fu Hustle did have Did that just happen dialogue.

There is that, but I'm not gonna lie, this looks better than I expected for what is essentially cosplay with a budget.

Also, Cammy commenting on Chun-Li's thighs is kind of priceless.

I do wonder whether this wouldn't have worked better as a TV miniseries though, because it's inevitably going to have to cram way too much into a film's short runtime.
