This is kind of a tough sell, Dragon Quest XI has already sold probably around 4 or 5 million units in Japan, and I think around a million copies worldwide. The original Switch port of DQXI didn't sell as well compared to the numbers the game sold on the 3DS and PS4, probably because it was a late port, but it managed to sell over 500k in Japan, so I can't imagine this port selling more than that version, it feels like Enix wants to have at least an important DQ title for this year considering DQXII's development had restarted and that they don't have any new remake in development, they only have a new Monster's spin-off.
Leaving aside that it's another Game Key Card game, despite the fact that Enix managed to fit DQXI S on an original Switch game card, this new port is still based on the original Switch 1 version of XI, which had to be redone because the PS4 version couldn't be directly ported due to the engine not being compatible with the Switch, not to mention that the graphics had to be simplified, but even when the S version was ported back to the PS4, Xbox One and PC, it had the same graphics as the Switch, so ironically the definitve version has worse graphics than the vanilla edition. At least it seems this new Switch 2 will have better performance.

No upgrade option or save transfer from Switch 1 version is insane.

-Key card-
So there was no Switch 2 release, got it. SqEx just keeps shooting itself in the foot and then begging people in interviews to buy key cards. Get outta here.

Pokopia sold gangbusters. Key cards aren't an issue. It's ports of 8 year old games people have little interest in.

I really tried playing it on my Switch, but something about it was giving me motion sickness on the first city. Maybe if they offer a free upgrade patch, I'll give this game another try to see if that upgrade makes a difference.

SqEx has confirmed there is no upgrade path so you have to buy the full game again. Also, no save transfers. I'll stick to the Switch version because SqEx's penny-pinching and aversion to upgrades is tiresome

Yeah, that part doesn't make much sense to me. Upgrades for people with the previous version have been around for years, and you're more likely to convince someone to buy that shiny new coat of paint for $5 or $10 than buy it again entirely. Carrying over saves is also a normal part of that. I remember being pretty amused when I loaded up Ghost of Tsushima on ps5, and every trophy popped as soon as I loaded my save because it registered all of them as completed from my ps4 save.

I don't know much about the Switch release. But the 2017 PS4 original was not smooth in motion.
