That's entirely a subjective opinion, of course. I believe that the first season of Code Geass was great, and that Gundam SEED was the best Gundam I've ever watched (far better than the pile of garbage that was Zeta). I'll leave it there; this is a thread for Code Geass after all. All I can say is, the fact that Code Geass has sexual content does not impact on the overall quality (good or bad). It's just there. |

Usually I don't get into Mecha anime, but something about Adult Swim's treatment of this show renewed my interest. Honestly before, I'd have it on just because once Toonami/Adult Swim started earlier in the night I'd just leave it there on Saturdays no matter how much I actually paid attention to a show or not. Hate to say it, but the move to the graveyard slot got me to pay attention to this show. I think its actually pretty good and I will seriously consider buying this on DVD one day. Well after I catch up on other stuff I've been missing.

Oh, you. Back on the subject of Code Geass, things are falling apart for Lelouch. It's strange how he sort of goes through his stages of disenchantedly arrogant, maniacally bloodthirsty, and careful strategist in a matter of moments. Perhaps he needs some medication to keep that in check. But then, given how Cornelia acts, maybe it's a royal family trait. |

Final episode of season 1!
http://www.adultswim.com/video/?episodeID=8a2505951d1a2751011d2a7c1c1900aa spoiler[Nunnally gets kidnapped (most likely from V.V.)! And with it Lelouch goes back to that island and ABANDONS the Black Knights in the battlefield. Without Zero, everything was falling apart! And then the episode ends with a stand off between Lelouch and Suzaku after Kallen and Suzaku discovering that he is Zero! It is this gigantic cliffhanger that drove us NUTS for months! So next week starts season 2, right? You first-timers are really fortunate for this! |

Wow. Things just completely fell apart for Lelouch, and all because of his love for his sister and lack of knowledge about his power. You can say that he was a tad overconfident, that's why. I find it ridiculous that the entire rebellion would be put down just because Lelouch left the front, or that he even had to do that personally (he could just as easily have sent C.C. to rescue Nunnally), though. And it's just so convenient how Suzaku got out of an impossible situation, just because a cat attacked somebody. I mean, really, who gets disarmed by a cat? Still, a pretty entertaining show, if not completely absurd and rife with problems.

So if they altered the Japanese ending, how so?
Overall a very packed episode, tons of competing elements at play. I can buy how spoiler[everything fell apart without Zero, he's the only one with a full tactic map of the battlefield, and who's to say it would have gone that much better if he had been around, but he makes for a good scapegoat. ] One thing that did confuse me though, what was with Kalen's reaction? spoiler[Why was she so upset that Zero was Lelouche? Didn't she have a favorable relationship to both of them? Was it just that she felt upset at having been lied to about it (if so she's way overreacting), or was there actually some important conflict there?] |

I think he meant the ending song.
spoiler[I think she acted like that because Lelouch is a Britannian. I believe that it was said before in the show that if the people found out that Lelouch was not Japanese that their faith in him would weaken or something like that. ] Overall, this show is highly entertaining, though ridiculous at times. Can't wait for the next season.

Well, that was stupid. I mean, the actual final ending. You don't end a show as if it's just another episode. So much was left unfinished. I guess I was foolish in thinking that this and R2 were two decently separated shows?
Anyway, I just rated Code Geass Very Good here on ANN. It was a fun ride, but there are just so many flaws and pacing issues with the story that I couldn't rate it higher than that, even though I would have liked to have rated it Excellent. All of its elements just didn't blend well together. =| |

Well, ever since I heard that there was a second season of Code Geass, I assumed that there was going to be a lot of unfinished business carried over from the first season. I think it would have been awkward had everything been resolved in the 1st season and the second just makes up another problem. But what I'd like to know is if Sunrise planned to have 2 seasons from the beginning or if they decided to make up a 2nd one because it got popular. |

RE: Braves' answer to my question:
But didn't he spoiler[announce to his followers at some point that he was Britainian or something?] I thought I remembered him doing that.
Well, considering that the last two episodes were done months after the rest of the season, I'm fairly sure that they intended to have a second season at least before they actually wrapped anything up. I'm sure that if they didn't think they were coming back things would have resolved much differently, perhaps in a much more rushed fashion, but probably with more closure (like no VV at all, maybe limit the "Euphie catastro####" a bit, spoiler["Cornelia did it"], etc.). |

spoiler[I think Zero announced that he was not Japanese. He didn't specifically say he was Britannian. So basically Kallen thought his nationality could be anything except Japanese.] |

spoiler[But one also has to remember that Lelouch is royalty. If he had been any other regular Britannian, I doubt she would have freaked out that much.]

There was more to the edit: an epilogue featuring a monologue by C.C. was removed following the original ED credit sequence for this episode. I wasn't aware that this had been removed until I was reading through the discussion thread on the ASMB. Upon learning that, I re-watched the end of the episode with the monologue intact . Yes, edits are bad, but I have to admit that even with the omission, I thought the effect wasn't that detrimental.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember anyone saying that Lelouch was royalty during the Lelouch-Suzuaku standoff. It's the fact that Lelouche is Britannian that swings Kallen's mood so suddenly. Mind you, her whole atttitude towards Britannians is one of outright contempt and distrust. With that in mind, it goes to follow that working under a Britannian would never be a goal of hers, let alone believing in one. |

Ah, that's right. Only a few people at Ashford Academy knew that he was royalty and Kallen wasn't one of them. So many things happen and me no remember. >.< I wonder if they'll put R2 on a different time slot. I noticed that [as] actually had some advertisements for this episode, however brief they might have been. |
