So most animes based on games were/are crapshoots (bad fighting game OVAs FTW), but there's got to be some potential for an anime based on a game that wouldn't totally blow...and I've got a few thoughts on that.
Chrono Trigger: Since the game itself has a lot of anime influence (sci-fi elements, character designs, etc.) and is pretty much lurved by everyone with a brain, this could rule. If they stuck to Akira's character work as closely as people and even brought him in as a producer or director, and they stayed mostly true to the plot and kept the translations consistent (i.e., calling them Ozzie, Slash, and Flea in the US version), it could definitely be a good show. At the least it'd probably be very flashy and stylish. Soul Calibur: It does have an interesting premise, and weapon fighting is always cool. The story wouldn't have to be elaborate, just give us plausible excuses to have these characters square off. Also, plenty of potential for some fan service. Metal Gear: It's been remade, novelized, and there's been talk of a live-action movie forever...how about a TV series? If the look kept to the gritty and rough look of Yoji Shinkawa's art instead of falling into the trap of making the characters look like stock "anime" types, and if they could condense some of the exposition, it could rule. Not to mention that BECAUSE of the exposition, they'd save some money -- in the games they used a lot of still shots during the talky parts, so that could apply here. Also, while David Hayter will always be the one and true Solid Snake...I'd be upset if he wasn't the lead actor, but if not, I think Steve Blum could pull off a decent Snake voice. |

Well, I can only think of one right now so here it goes
Fire Emblem(the entire series): I do know that there was a short-lived ova made back in what... 1992? But if a good producer could do a very good adaptation of one of the 10 or so games out, it could become a very epic series like Escaflowne(only with hella more characters). If they do make a series of Fire emblem in whole it should be based off of Fire Emblem 8:Sacred Stones. |

I thought the Tales of Symphonia OVAs were half-way decent at least. The animation is at least interesting to watch, though it's lighter on story to cram things into the shorter space.
Not to mention I think that Kanon/Air/Clannad/etc. all count as "video games" of a fashion and those are excellent shows. So I'm not convinced great anime hasn't been made that's based on games already. That being said, I do agree that Chrono Trigger if done well probably could make a good anime. I doubt there is much stirring interest for it at this point, but... perhaps if the new DS version of the game gets awesome sales Square Enix will push for it. I certainly am not opposed to the idea. |

I think Persona 3 would have the potential to be a great anime. They already made Trinity Soul as the sequel to P3 but it was kind of boring and hard to follow. But P3 has great elements to it that would make it worth adapting into an anime, great story, good characters, cool battle sequences where the characters summon their personas, etc. There's already a good manga that's been adapted from the game, an anime adaptation would probably be just as good

I think something like Max Payne or Farcry would translate well to the anime scene. Both are action based and have pretty solid storylines.
My dream project would be my all time favorite videogame, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, though. I'd love to see some Jedi VS Sith action in anime form, plus the story is very well written with an interesting twist. |

Kingdom Hearts needs to be made into an anime! I mean it's already popular enough to. And the whole series is like a big shonen action-adventure title.

Bio-Hazard (Resident Evil) would probably make a good anime if they stick to the original storyline. The US movie franchise was ok, but I think the video game storyline is much better.
I agree at the Chrono Trigger would make a good anime. Square did do a Xenosaga anime and it was actually done well, so I don't see why they wouldn't invest in a Chrono Trigger one. |

There is an old Gameboy Colour game called Sigma Star that I just adore that I think would make a half decent anime. I mean nothing mind blowingly brilliant, but a fun sci fi adventure. It had really neat character designs and I liked the story. Its one of the better games Iv played (mind you I haven't played a LOT)

Resident Evil was definitely my first thought. With the right style and atmosphere that could be killer. But at the same time there is so much that could go wrong with such a project I'm not sure I want to risk the possibility of utter crap. |

Maybe Scarlet Weather Rhapsody or Perfect Cherry Blossom. Melty Blood has a pretty good anime, so if done right fighting games do make good shows. Valkyrie Profile but only is it was done with class, artistic talent, and taken 100% serious (no anime tear drops or expressions) |

Well, I'm most likely to come up with RPGs of course, but here's a few that come to mind:
Eternal Sonata, because most of the battles felt like busy work thanks entirely to the sheer lack of enemy variety. If they were to clean up the mess of a "WTF?!?!?! THAT WAS IT??!?!" ending, then we'd be looking at a decent series. It'd basically just be cutting out the middle man. Tales of Legendia, why do all (read "a lot") the other Tales games get a series but not Legendia? Its my personal favorite and I think it has one of the strongest casts with the best character chemistry, which is what (some) good anime are made entirely up of to the point where no one cares how mediocre the story is because the characters are just so awesome (see: Planetes, junk collectors in space) Kaze no Klonoa, really, I think this is just my rabid and raging inner fan screaming for a Klonoa series that I can throw money at because the games have never disappointed me and everyone with a Wii should get this game should it come out in their respective regions. Even if you are buying the game a 2nd time because you were lucky enough to play the PS1 version. Advance Wars, because that game is way too cheery to be a game about war, it should be an anime instead and put all its non-serious stuff there. Killer7, that would be one messed up anime. It' be all the fun in violence and gore except without dying and having to inexplicably go back to pick up a bag of blood so that you can use the character again. It might be more messed up than Elfen Lied I might think. Magi Nation, and not that recent show that I pretend doesn't exist because it shatters the perfectly hilarious and awesome story of the Game Boy Color game and totally ruins Tony Jones! Only people who have played even a few hours of the GBC game know what great injustices they have done to that show to the point where I pretend it doesn't exist. Because it shouldn't. They should make one that doesn't suck. Astro Boy: Omega Factor, yes I want to take a game that came out for the 2003 series and make an anime based solely on that (because I think it had a better story than most of 2003 for the most part), complete with all the odd and obscure Osamu Tezuka cameos that sprang up (at least the ones like Sharaku (the three-eyed one), Ambassador Magma, and Black Jack & Pinoko for instance, that did contribute to the story), and all the glory of its Tezukverse...thing that if you played it, you'd know what I meant. |

I'd like to see an anime based on any of the Final fantasy series (especially VI, VII or VIII) rather than the weird unrelated to anything-ness that was Final Fantasy: Unlimited. When you've got games that are being complained about for just telling a story, why write a new story for different media? (That goes for The Spirit's Within too, which at least managed to be pretty).

Most gamers complain because they want to just play. I myself can be sometimes like that. I.E. The Last Remnant, which basiclly played itself, I hated. I wanted to play a game not watch a movie. w
