I see that they're probably never going to finish the Inuyasha story in the anime but they already did finish the manga some time ago.
Is Inuyasha worth finishing in the manga in your opinion and would I be able to continue from where the anime left off or would it just be best to start from the beginning of the manga? I'm asking because I looked some stuff up and saw really cool stuff happening like Seshomaru purifying the entirety of Hell.

If you're planning on wanting to see what happened to everybody in the end, then you would want to start off from where the anime finished, but even then I think that there are always some parts even in the anime adapted manga parts that are different from the anime itself. So, you might have to go through the entire manga series. I just saved myself the trouble of everything and read the last chapter, which wasn't all that great in itself anyway.

Depends do you want to see what happens in the end? Inuyasha was one of my first mangas and I still continue to collect it. Call it nostalgia. However, now that the manga has caught up to the end of the anime I can't wait for a new release. I really wish VIZ was quicker on the release schedule. Really, a six month waiting period is rather long considering that the manga is already released in Japan. I understand that rereading manga plots that have already been seen on anime can be a bit dull since the surprise of the story is ruined. But unaired matieral is a different subject. Especially if you actually wait it out six months at a time.
As for is it worth it? I hate to say the obvious but that is really up to you. You can cheat and read scans of it online if you really wanted to (I wouldn't advise this however - just because I don't like scan sites.) just to see if you want to buy. Also you can always ask for spoilers. Loan from a library or join a manga rental site. There are a lot of ways. Heck I think Wiki even summarizes it in their Inuyasha (manga) page without warning.
As for me - it is worth it. Absolutely.
Lastly, for the bit on Sesshomaru you may want to consider editing it so that it is covered as a spoiler. I don't know if it is true or not, but it may ruin the story for those that are interested in responding to you post.

This is somewhat off-topic, but could influence your decision on which you end up buying: Viz will start releasing VIZBIG versions of Inuyasha in November.

I was thinking like... torrent the whole thing like I did Naruto and Berserk. Since I'm already trying to catch up with those though, I was wondering if Inuyasha was good enough to be worth my time.
I'm actually finding Naruto to be rather likable and Berserk to be freaking amazing. I'll probably even buy the Berserk volumes I downloaded after I find some employment.

I wouldn't recommend spending the time to read all 30 something volumes. It was good for a while but it starts to feel endless after a certain point. And, like someone already mentioned, the ending isn't good at all.
