Well, if you're talking about making a fan manga and posting it online like they do with Snafu and such, then no, you wouldn't get sued. Now if you're talking about publishing and selling a sequil based on a series that you have no permission using then yeah, you'd better expect legal troubles. Besides, and excuse me if I'm mistaken, but someone such as yourself who, I'm guessing, has little experience in the industry or any sort of formal training has an increadibly small chance of breaking into the industry with something cobbled together on manga studio with a home PC. Especially if it's concerning a company you're going to try and convince to let you use their properties for a sequil.

Not to mention you shouldn't be relying on someone else's characters to base your story on. It's a lot more work and it takes longer but it's much more rewarding and satisfying if you come up with your own characters and your own world. But that's just my personal opinion. I just figure that if a sequil is going to be made it's something the author themselves is doig not a third party such as yourself, just saying.

1- Self-Publishing is an option, whether it's a standard webcomic or printing it up yourself and selling it by yourself [whether it's photocopied minicomics at an artists alley, or off-set printing with a bookstore distributor if you reallllly like hardwork]. There;s also submitting to domestic publishers, whether it's manga publisher who does domestic titles, or a comic publisher whose done manga-style comics, and traditional book publishers and comic syndicates, as well as professionally-edited webcomics sites.

2- One you create it it's copyrighted. Having it published in print or online as an actual comic helps things though. Idea's aren't copyrightable, but once they're made into an actual work they are.

3- Use your own ideas. Or rework your sequel ideas until they're all your own, and unrelated to [example- the popular webcomic Bite Me! about vampires set in revolution-era France uses a main character who was originally a Harry Potter fanfic character]

You have a few options if you're going to be setting it up as a webcomic. You can open your own web page and host it there, use a blog to host your comic using blogspot or a similar site or you can find a webcomic site that hosts multiple artists such as Snafu and try asking if they'd be willing to host you as well. Sites like that usually have a "contact us" button somewhere on their site so that'd be the place to start if you want to take that route. Remember the vitality of a webcomic can be partially attributed to a consistent update schedule. If you say you're going to update once a week or Monday, Wednesday and Friday or even Tuesday and Thursday stick to it. Once you've established a fan base you'll be able to cut yourself some slack but for the first little while make sure you're consistent, that goes for the art as well. A consistent update schedule and good artwork will be something that draws readers in and then worry about hooking them with an intelligent story, that's what I look for in a webcomic at least. But you probably knew all of that already.

There are no plurals in Japanese, so corrently that sentence would be "A couple of my ideas include creating sequels to already existing manga."
