160,000 isn't that high compared to many US magazines, is it? I wonder what the circulation was for Newtype USA before Kadokawa killed it Confused

I wonder if CJ would be allowed to give us some idea if he's still about?

Being a convert from Newtype to Animage, I'm surprised that Newtype sells 3 times more than other Anime magazines. I thought Anime magazines in general are demographic specific, but I never expected such asymmetrical balance in circulation.

I guess the Newtype has broader media coverage than Animage. Newtype has younger age group focused on general anime fan base while Animage covers specific fan base and their interests. (Personally, I prefer Animage's in-depth interviews than Newtype's glossy promo arts and trinkets.)

I generally go with Animage myself, but I don't see a whole lot of difference between the two these days. Both tend to dote on otaku shows I could care less about in the front section, and have their more interesting news toward the back.

I would be curious to know how these numbers compare to the circulation in the 1980s and 1990s, though, because I *love* to look through old issues of them.
