Really? Maybe I just haven't seen enough of that sort of anime - this line's always stood out to me. Since it's been said, though, at this point, am I allowed to go in and add the preceding line for context, or should I just post it as the next hint? (your guess was incorrect, BTW.) |

It may stand out if you're aware of the context, but isolated from that, it doesn't say much in itself. Adding the preceding line as the next hint probably would speed things along a bit. I'm going to take a guess now, though. spoiler[Lafiel to Jinto in Crest/Banner of the Stars] |

Whew, sorry for unintentional vagueness, everyone - I guess I shouldn't post quotes while rushing to meet deadlines anymore. Last two hints:
Hint #3: spoiler[The character delivering the line has just been reminded by a subordinate that, while he and his fellow subordinates are drawn to the character by her special talents, they aren't so dependent on her that they can't back her up. This is pretty much the line verbatim.] Hint #4: spoiler[This reminder is motivated by the fact that the character seems to be going through something of an emotional crisis at the time, which was brought on by the death of another subordinate, in conjunction with repressed (possibly deleted) memories forcibly reasserting themselves.] That should make it a bit easier to narrow down... |

Context is wrong but A and B type quote so characters are enough. This actually happened in episode 25 during a flashback. At least that's where I got the quote from. Your turn anyone who wants to post a quote. |
