Hiroshi KANEKO (金子 裕, 24 credits for "script", 5 credits for "background")
Yutaka KANEKO (no kanji, 3 credits for "script", 2 credits for "background") Yū KANEKO (金子 遊, 2 credits for "script") contain a confusing mix of credits for several persons. "Hiroshi" (裕): 11 EDICT readings for 裕, including "Hiro", "Hiroshi", "Yuu" and "Yutaka"; ANN has 18 裕 persons of which 9 are "Yutaka" and 9 are "Yuu" but none is "Hiroshi" Wikipedia page: 金子 裕 = かねこ ゆたか = KANEKO Yutaka, 1946-04-20, 脚本家 (script writer/playwright?)、演出家 (producer/director?), 26 anime credits, website. Wikipedia page: 金子 裕 (俳優) = かねこ ひろし = KANEKO Hiroshi, 1975-12-08, TV drama actor, website (no anime reference). So while 裕 may be read as "Hiroshi" (e. g. translated to "Hiroshi" by the Google translator) it appears to be a kanji reading error for the anime related 金子裕 person. "Yū" (遊):: 6 EDICT readings for 遊 = Asobi, Asobu, Asobe, Tayuta, Yuu, Yutori (all female); ANN has 4 遊 persons all of which are "Yu[u]". This one looks okay, just another KANEKO scriptwriter with a similar given name. Credits for KANEKO Yū (金子 遊): ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 金子 遊 (1988) Soreike! Anpanman (TV) : Script (livedoor wiki) 金子 遊 (1996) Case Closed (TV) : Script (livedoor wiki) (keep) 3 hits in livedoor wiki (the two above plus Golgo 13). No Wikipedia page, no Allcinema page, no JMDB entry. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Credits for KANEKO Yutaka (no kanji): ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 金子 裕 = かねこ ゆたか = KANEKO Yutaka #10389 (1946-04-20, Wikipedia page/26 credits, JMDB/5 credits, Allcinema/32 anime credits) 金子 裕 (1977) Lupin III: Part II (TV) : Screenplay (http://www.italway.it/lupin/TVseries/2/2nd_series_titles.html, unusable; better: Wikipedia page of anime) ______ (1982) Lupin VIII (TV) : Screenplay (no source; no good source found) 金子 裕 (1985) Onegai! Samia Don (TV) : Script (http://www.pelleas.net/dbman/db.cgi?db=wmt&uid=default&ID=203&view_records=1, "database down"; better: Infoseek, whitespace-separated) (split to "KANEKO Yutaka (playwright)") This is the person who should get nearly all the credits that currently are assigned to KANEKO Hiroshi. The name "Yutaka" is backed up with good sources from Wikipedia and Allcinema. (Being a woman then, maybe this was so surprising for credit translators 30 years ago that they got the wrong idea of looking for a male name and thus chose "Hiroshi"?) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 兼子 裕 = KANEKO Yutaka (background artist) (11 EDICT readings for 裕, including "Hiro", "Hiroshi", "Yuu" and "Yutaka"; ANN has 18 裕 persons of which 9 are "Yutaka" and 9 are "Yuu" but none is "Hiroshi") 兼子 裕 (2005) (The) Law of Ueki (TV) : Background (http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/anime/ueki/, unusable; better: D2_STATION) 兼子 裕 (2006) Pumpkin Scissors (TV) : Background Art (http://rikujyo3ka.com/, domain is gone; better: D2_STATION) (optimistic split to "KANEKO Yutaka (background artist)") This is the person who might get the "background" credits that currently are assigned to KANEKO Hiroshi. Unfortunately we have no proof for their given name, and more sources assigned to "Hiroshi" than to "Yutaka"; then again, this would be the first "Hiroshi" for 裕 at ANN against 18 non-"Hiroshi" so far. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Credits for KANEKO Hiroshi (1968) Kyojin no Hoshi (TV) : Script (Wikipedia, unusable but his Wikipedia page links to the anime version of this show) 金子 裕 (1971) Shin Obake no Q-Taro (TV) : Script (Allcinema page for Kabashima Yoshio???; better: Allcinema) 金子 裕 (1973) Kouya no Shonen Isamu (TV) : Script (Allcinema) 金子 裕 (1973) Samurai Giants (TV) : Script (Allcinema page for Yoshikawa Souji?; better: Marumegane) 金子 裕 (1974) Chiisana Viking Vicke (TV) : Screenplay (http://anime.info.pl/index.php?open=p&title=syr, unusable; better: Marumegane) 金子 裕 (1974) Hoshi no Ko Chobin (TV) : Script (Allcinema) 金子 裕 (1975) Sindbad the Sailor (TV) : Script (Wikipedia page of anime) 金子 裕 (1975) Time Bokan (TV) : Script (Allcinema) 金子 裕 (1975) Ganso Tensai Bakabon (TV) : Script (http://www.tms-e.com/library/old/tv/data/t_ganso_bakabon.html) 金子 裕 (1976) Robokko Beeton (TV) : Script (Allcinema) 金子 裕 (1979) Shin Kyojin no Hoshi II (TV) : Screenplay (Wikipedia, unusable but his Wikipedia page links to the anime version of this show) 金子 裕 (1979) Ganbare!! Tabuchi-kun!! (movie) : Screenplay (http://nakanoso.fc2web.com/g-list01.html) 金子 裕 (1980) Muu no Hakugei (TV) : Script (Allcinema) 金子 裕 (1980) Ojamanga Yamada-kun (TV) : Script (Allcinema) 金子 裕 (1980) Astro Boy (TV 2/1980) : Script (livedoor wiki) 金子 裕 (1980) New Gigantor (TV) : Screenplay ("tetsujin 28 website", better: Wikipedia page of anime) 金子 裕 (1981) Ohayo! Spank (TV) : Script (no source; better: Wikipedia page of anime) 金子 裕 (1982) Ohayo! Spank (movie) : Screenplay (Allcinema) 金子 裕 (1982) Tonde Mon Pe (TV) : Script (Allcinema) 金子 裕 (1983) Miyuki (TV) : Script (http://www.planete-jeunesse.com, unusable; better: Wikipedia page of anime) 金子 裕 (1983) Lady Georgie (TV) : Script (http://www.public.iastate.edu/~rllew/georgie.html, HTTP-404; better: Wikipedia page of anime) 金子 裕 (1984) Oyoneko Boonyan (TV) : Screenplay (Wikipedia page of anime) 金子 裕 (1986) Fight! Kickers (TV) : Script (http://www.public.iastate.edu/~rllew/kickers.html, HTTP-404; better: Playtown, whitespace-separate) (error) Can it really be that 90% of all credits for 金子 裕 have been assigned to the wrong person? Both Wikipedia and Allcinema agree about "Yutaka" (female) being the given name instead of "Hiroshi" (male), so all the credits above would be errors; otherwise this person would be a (split & merge) to get "KANEKO Yutaka (also known as KANEKO Hiroshi)". ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ______ (1999) Stigma (manga) : Director (Bookbinding) ("Book, page 130-131") (no information) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ______ (2006) Kekkaishi (TV) : Recording Assistant (http://www.ytv.co.jp/kekkaishi/, unusable; no good source found) (no information) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 兼子 裕 = KANEKO Yutaka / Yū / Hiroshi? (see above: 兼子 裕 = KANEKO Yutaka (background artist)) (11 EDICT readings for 裕, including "Hiro", "Hiroshi", "Yuu" and "Yutaka"; ANN has 18 裕 persons of which 9 are "Yutaka" and 9 are "Yuu" but none is "Hiroshi") 兼子 裕 (2006) Pumpkin Scissors (TV) : Background Art (http://rikujyo3ka.com/, domain is gone; better: D2_STATION) 兼子 裕 (2008) Vampire Knight (TV) : Background Art (http://www.vampire-knight.jp/, unusable; better: livedoor wiki) 兼子 裕 (2008) Naisho no Tsubomi (OAV) : Background Art (livedoor wiki) 兼子 裕 (2009) Natsu no Arashi! Akinai-chū (TV) : Background Art (livedoor wiki) 兼子 裕 (2010) Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts (TV) : Background Art (Studio Tulip) (livedoor wiki) (unclear) This is certainly a different person even with different kanji for the surname. Unfortunately we have no real evidence for her given name as "Hiroshi" would be unlikely given the already existing 18 persons in ANN none of which is a "Hiroshi" while there are as many "Yuu" as "Yutaka". Note that KANEKO Yutaka (background artist) (see above) has been assigned two "background" credits for 兼子 裕 as well and both persons have been credited for Pumpkin Scissors... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Last edited by Devil Doll on Sat Jun 05, 2010 2:38 pm; edited 3 times in total |

For what it's worth the Writers Guild of Japan list, which has name readings, lists the two screenwriters:
金子 遊 (かねこ ゆう) 金子 裕 (かねこ ゆたか) I would agree that it seems "Hiroshi Kaneko" is most likely an incorrect reading for the script/screenplay credits. |
