Yes, that's a misleading headline. Just because a game has shipped X amount of copies doesn't mean it's sold X amount of copies. Depending on the deal the game developer strikes with the store chain, the developer might not get any money until a customer actually pays for the game themselves.

Wouldn't they have gotten something as soon as the store orders copies, or does the publisher take it all?
