Well I finally got to see this DVD in whole, as Japanese with English subs, and was well worth waiting for
I rated it a masterpiece, and that is my view of course. This is a good as anything that Ghibli have done before, and I love it immensely. It is a teen love story, it is a melodrama, it was excellently made, I love the animation, the music was effective, especially the closing theme, the voice actors were great (I don't speak Japanese by the way), and the plot actually made sense right to the end, and most of all, it has heart! The character drawings may seem familiar, (many Ghibli characters are drawn similar , if you look hard and watch their movies a lot) but Umi and Shun's stories are unique. I just loved this, so well done Ghibli
