A Hamilton College student has written an op/ed complaining about the double standards involved in the school recognizing a female "Yaoi/Slash Appreciatin Club," when a club made primarily of males dedicated to lesbian art and erotica would likely be condemned:

Until he actually establishes such an organization, and the College's administration shuts it down, he's talking through his hat.

I agree. It seems silly when all he's really criticizing is that such a double standard would exist which he bases on nothing but his own assumption. Has he talked to anyone about this? Asked the people in charge of such things whether it would be acceptable? Or even just done an informal survey around campus to see where people stand? Without doing anything to really examine this assumption of his it really just comes across as lazy journalism.

Seems like a lad that uses the term "femi-nazi" without a hint of irony.
Would be nice if my side of humanity were less insecure about themselves. |

I do agree with him though. There's just a double standard that has always been there. The same goes for female teachers who sleep with their students. People tend to be more lenient on them while condemning male teachers who do the same.
But does it matter in the long run? Not really. Yaoi and yuri aren't against the law, so I don't see why that guy cares about what the school thinks. |

Until it actually happens, he's just talking big. It kind of irritates me, actually, because he sounds like he thinks there's something wrong with there being a "Yaoi/Slash Club", and is just using the "If there was a Lesbian club everyone would throw a fit!" as a shield to make his complaint sound legitimate. Of course I have no proof, but that's how it came across to me.
