This is just a quick question but, I've read on multiple websites that a preview for Durarara!! and Darker than Black Ryusei no Gemni is on the first Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann movie's DVD release. Can anyone confirm this? I'm not trying to gossip, I'm just wondering if this means that Aniplex has licensed these series. The websites in question are Wikipedia and Mania.com which I received this news from (neither of which I trust particularily but the overlap in information peeked my curiosity). My other question is, if this is true, will it be subtitles only or will it include a dub?

Damn, I was hoping Funi could provide the dub for DTB 2. Oh well, if they do blu rays for these shows, I'm all over them .

This is true. I cannot confirm, based on the trailers shown on the aforementioned disk, whether they will be dubbed or subbed only, but the latter seems like a safer bet at this point.

It makes absolutely no sense for DTB2 to be sub-only when the first season was dubbed.
If that's the case, I think I might cry.

I don't know about Mania as a whole but you can trust Chris on this and Aniplex doesn't have to license them because they are the Licensee in the first place. It doesn't not necessarily mean that Aniplex of America themselves will be releasing these titles themselves; they may have sublicensed them out like Kadokawa USA used to.

I'm on the same boat. Except that for myself it doesn't really matter. Darker Than Black is a series I plan on watching with friends (one day), and in that case a dub would be fundamental.

It makes sense because the licensee apparently doesn't do dubs, and also because it's a different licensee. I consider it sort of unfair for the fans, as well as bad for the series' popularity.

Unfortunately, Darker Than Black Season 1 suffered because it was one of the final Funi series to be released in singles. It did horribly at B&M, and a lot of online buyers waited for the boxsets.
All in all, the move to do season 2 as sub-only doesn't surprise me. But don't forget, when they licensed season 1, Funi likely got an agreement to have first shot at Season 2. There is an excellent chance they passed on it for one reason or another.
