I finished my final exam today and as I did I rembered a topic I made in 2010, kind of weird and since we have a topic for favourites of 2012 we might try this. The idea is to make up an award for a catagory, and who/what should win it, it can be a character, a show, a plot device, a song, it could be a good thing, it could be a bad thing. Lets have some fun, I'll post mine:

Craziest Series Title: Bodacious Space Pirates - The first thing everyone took notice about this series was its extreme title; not only does it imply space pirates, but apparently they are "bodacious". You might say the series itself was not that bodacious, but the opening may fit the bill, it was rather impressive how it could make space ship battles that were actually rather slow and thought out actually exciting from the bridge.

Character with Craziest Harem: Mahiro Yasaka (Haiyore Nyaruko-san) - The crawling chaos otaku, lesbian living flame, a trap king in yellow, there is a normal and a too friendly mother, but perhaps we may even count the fact he was almostspoiler[ sold into a sex show]. The characters are not just terrifying abominations in the forms of cute girls, but they could be sadistic space police, otaku shut in who got a job through game pals, a very convincing trap.

Cutest Character: Hina Takanashi (Listen to me girls) - The childlike slur, the innocence, the twinkle twinkle little star, she was incredibly adorable. my highlights are the trumpet in episode one, and the instant costume that she quickly put on one time. It was some excellent work at making her sound like a child that just melts your heart.

I am reminded of back when Shakugan no Shana was released and a poster commented something to the effect that the first episode that has the second ending song should get an award for "Best Segue From Show to Ending Credits." I believe that the same can be said of Kokoro Direct Connect for the fourth episode.

Wow.

(thanks to getchman for pointing out the error!)

Best fanservice award: joint between Nisemonogatari and Nazo no Kanojo X.

Nisemonogatari had lots of issues but fanservice wasn't one of them. In fact, there were some truly epic scenes. Who can forget the infamous and legendary toothbrush scene, after which you'll never look at a toothbrush in the same way again? Or Suruga's super-toned and naked body sprawled out so seductively? Basically, the show featured some of the classiest fanservice you'll find in an Anime production.

Nazo no Kanojo X did not go the classy route; it went the kinky route instead. From seemingly tame scenes such as boys each running their hands through their own girlfriend's hair and messing it up (making the girls aroused) to the girls wearing their bikinis in the middle of winter to "reinvigorate" their ill boyfriends, this show was never dull. My absolute favourite scene was when spoiler[Urabe slapped a sticker with her boyfriend Tsubaki's name written on it onto her bare arse and proclaimed that her legs now belonged to him and that he could decide how she used them.] That was freaking hot.

I love fanservice when it is done properly and effort it is put in.

Edit: fixed bold tag

I belive we only need one word from each to show why: toothbrush, and boxes.

Best Pervert of the Year: Issei Hyoudou (Highschool DxD) - Indeed a hard choice, we had some wonderful perverts this year, but he wins my vote becaus simply he spoiler[made a move that destroys clothing on touch]. But was a chivilarist also.

Best Work in the area of Delusions: Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! - We have quickly fallen for the dellusions in this series, the imagin versions of fights were amazing to watch while their real versions were funny. We found the dellusions the characters, while the truth inded hit the soft spot with left side of the ribcage. And it is not like dellsions were on one person, we saw a large amount of dellusions from different characters, though we do not yet know what the final message will be, but we learened that a little bit can be a lot of fun.

I'm not sure of which categories would be suitable for my own personal awards, but I guess one could argue "Weirdest girlfriends" and have Rea from Sankarea, Yuuko from Otome x Amnesia and Urabe from Nazo no Kanojo fight it off.

For Most impactful death I'd havespoiler[ Lancer's] in Fate/Zero S2. Orspoiler[ Kiritsugu's teacher], both were very shocking and had me reeling for a while

Best fanservice I'd give it both to Otome x Amnesia and Binbougami Ga! I think both handled their fanservice amazingly, one with taste and cuteness, the other one with fun and self-awareness

Coolest fight would probably be spoiler[Kirito+Asuna+Klein+Blood Order vs the Skull Monster in ] SAO. That was one amazingly done fight. The very recent spoiler[Aladdin vs Judal in ] Magi was pretty cool and intense too.

Cutest Character probably young Polar Bear and young Grizzly in Shirokuma Café. Also the fairies in Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita, they were adorably creepy

Dunno, if I think of anything else I might add it

I've yet to complete any 2012 series (and I'm assuming this is restricted to titles made in the year, not licensed).

I started Space Pirates Moretsu, but managed to get to episode 11 before I stopped watching it. I really enjoyed what I was watching, but must have gotten distracted because it sits in my queue on CR, reminding me episode 12 is ready to go whenever I am.

Before this was Listen to me girls..., and that one I did drop. Apparently, I did so too early, as many who watched it stated it "ended" well enough to give it a strong support. I got to the episode to which the 4 moved into his apartment.

Oddly, it was the character designs that started to grate on my nerves. Those upturned noses just bugged me, and yes, it's a shallow reason, but for me, eye candy is a huge factor to my enjoyment. I don't disagree the story up to that point was pretty good.

Perhaps I'll try again and see what I've been missing.

For most of 2012, it really has been a year of re-watches. I've lost count the number of times I've streamed Hanasaku Iroha, Gosick, Kanamemo, Kiddy Grade -And, Bridge to the Starry Skies, and Demonbane.

There's something to be said about "comfort food" and re-watching some streams, as well as stuff from my disk collection, has been more rewarding than a new show.

Then again, I think it's best if I actually finish 2011's offerings first.
Embarassed

Well, the rules require a minimum of one sentence so a single word would have gotten my post deleted.

"Boxes"? I'm not sure I follow. You mean how she cut boxes with her panty scissors?

The award for Best excuse for a maleless bishoujo show goes to Girls and Panzer, surprisingly beating out both Bodacious Space Pirates and LaGrange: the Flower of Rinne. And without many of the usual yuri undertones. All I can say is: ... tanks...

Best slapsitck goes to Ana in Oniai for her slip, trip and fall on a banana peel. Truly epic...

Best epic fail goes to Queen's Blade Rebellion. How do you screw up the simplicity that is Queen's Blade's trademark of breasts, blades and battle? No, really, how?

I did not mean to only use one word, but words that there are words that can sumarize their nominations..

And for the boxes bit, wasn't she like spoiler[naked underneath her suit made of] boxes?

Oh, that. Yes, the robot costume, and the subsequent nude duel. Very hot.

Macho Man series of the year, Jojo. Becoming alpha was never so easy. Even Blood- is sounding manlier as of late. Miraculous. As a side note, I've replaced its opening for this song.

Most Pleasant goes to Hunter x Hunter. One of the few series that I can say I sincerely enjoyed this year. One Piece was mostly down for me since I couldn't adapt to the changes after 500 episodes, but now it's picking up again.

Quality Series obviously goes to Fate Zero. I'd say it was a fairly weak year in my anime menu as I can barely remember anything. Can't say I've seen much anime either.

The Terrible Mistake of the Year, Sword Art Online. For comedic effects, I'll leave the reason obscured.
