Has anyone ever read Seimaden? I've been interested in this series ever since I picked up a Japanese book of it in New York and fell in love with the art work many many years ago. I since managed to collect all 10 Japanese volumes, but never found a translation, and was hoping it would come to the states. I don't know how I missed it before, but I looked it up on the encyclopedia and saw that CMX is releasing it this summer.
My question is, has CMX censored any titles other than TenTen? I wasn't a fan of TenTen, but I abhor CMX for treating a title and the fans in such a rude way, and I've also heard their quality sucks. This makes me sad, I've been waiting for Seimaden to come here for years and I don't know if I should get it or not. Also, has anyone actually read the series, and what do you think? ^^

I think it all depends on the manga. The first question is what kind of adult content does it have? The second is what age group do you think the story would be aimed at? TenTen has adult content gallore, but it's a rather simplistic shonen story which would appeal to younger teens more than the crowd that buys Berserk or Samurai Executioner (two titles that are shrink-wrapped). If CMX decides to market it at an older audience, I think the chances are good that the manga will remain uncensored (DC obviously has no problem with marketing mature products to adults). I'm sure it's hard to judge the content of the story without reading it, but you probobly can get an overall idea on what kind of a manga it is.
Oh, and yes, the quality of CMX's books are pretty crappy, but then again, the Japanese ones probobly aren't high quality themselves.

It is a bit hard to tell, but it's really not very graphic.. there is some violence and blood and some sex, but the sex is pretty looking rather than graphic (sort of similar to Watase Yuu kinda stuff, maybe). The one thing that concerns me is that there is some shonen-ai, light yaoi tones in the story.. I know there is one demon guy who rapes another (although it's all so pretty looking you can hardly tell it's a rape scene). Has CMX released anything yaoi or shonen-ai? In my best estimate I would rate it as a Teen book. There's really nothing offensive looking about it, and that's coming from someone who hasn't read it, but just looked at it, so hopefully they wouldn't censor anything...

Well if it is yaoi (even just suggested), I don't think they would censor it. It's a very popular sub-genre right now, and something like softcore sex would probobly only help it sell to that market.
