I had to mute the feed because of the horrendous echo but appreciated that it was fully translated.
 Poor guy wants to see the American fanbase.. oh boy.. I hope he does his homework.. some sort of mental preparation to meet the American "Otaku".. LOL I hope he doesn't come out of the experience emotionally scarred..

He speaks well in English and did a twitter post in English for his favorite Accel World character. He'll love the American fanbase more than he loves sex. |

Knowing English and speaking it well are different things. Japanese English language classes aren't very well geared to proper pronunciation and intonation.

Almost no language classes are. They spend like 2 days on pronunciation and after that they're all "you're on your own, kid".
Hearing my fellow German 3 AP students mispronounce stuff is suffering |

Well, the interview was conducted by Aniplex, and they have nothing to do with Accel World, so understandable it's SAO-centric. |

He's also attending Sakura-Con as part of a group of SAO guests, sponsored by Aniplex, so it makes sense that they focus on what he's attending for.

The reason they're blocked in Japan is because it's a video produced by Aniplex USA.
In order to stream it in Japan territories they would need to get permission from Aniplex headquarters in Japan, and because it's youtube there would be turf issues: Aniplex Japan would want the video to be uploaded to the Aniplex Japan channel instead of the Aniplex USA channel on youtube, etc... Basically it's a pain in the butt for Aniplex USA with little to no benefit. Yet another reason why even if it's the same parent company, the structure of having a separate local licensing company in foreign territories makes it difficult to handle global marketing. |

I'm not really a fan of his works anymore but this was interesting to see how somewhat surirpsed he was at the US fanbase his series had.
