It honestly sounds kinda weak: a young girl dreams of becoming a pop star, but she kinda gives up because of a tumor in her throat. Then she gets a magical temporary reprive from this illness and she gets a little chance to do her thing. I'm not too interested, but you never know really.

Has anyone checked out volume 1 yet?

I remember when it was unlicensed, and supposedly it was pretty popular in Japan. Yet I didn't care for the story, so I didn't check it out. I received a preview of other shojo manga, and it still didn't seem too great, even though I did like the art.

I heard it was a real tear-jerker. Crying or Very sad And it's short- only 8 volumes so the story won't drag.

She doesn't give up because of a throat tumor, where'd ya hear that? The two Shinigami help her achieve her goal, but she never gave up in the first place. The shinigami didn't want to help her at first, they changed their minds because of Mitsuki's determination. (Plus, she might have refused to pass on if her dream wasn't fullfilled.) I definitely recommend the series. It's not all that kiddie as it may seem to be at first sight. Although the story is light-hearted at times, the story overall is rather deep. I've read a few volumes of scans, and I'm also collecting the series, and I'd say it opens very well. One of the strong points of the story is definitely character design. And yes, it does get emotional at times. This is definitely one of the best manga I've read. Go for it, I say. And no, I'm not even a shoujo fan.
