I just bought my 2nd/3rd manga series yesterday and finished both volumes: YuYu Hakusho vol1 and Hellsing vol1.
In both mangas they seem to get through the equivilant of four or five episodes in the anime. SO, is it like this for a lot of mangas? please gimme some examples. I might be more interested in other manga series than before. |

Most of the manga that I read progresses at about that rate through manga to anime ratio. The only one that really stuck out that went a lot faster than the anime was Hunter X Hunter. Berserk progresses nicely from manga to anime but the first 3 volumes are stuff you don't see in the anime. If you like Hellsing you should probably check out Berserk. |

Getbackers spends a lot of time in the manga on the violinist story. What took 3 episodes of the anime took 1 1/3 volumes of manga. I enjoyed it a lot but I thought the manga gave it a better telling overall.

I believe Inu-Yasha has an almost infallible 1 epsiode : 3 chapters anime:manga ratio. At least, up until the point where the anime caught up to the manga and produced so much filler.
However, the manga has a few stories absent from the anime in the beginning, and some stories that were fairly early on in the manga came very late in the anime. For example, the Peach-man story came around volume 8 or 9 in the manga, but took place after Inu-Yasha's battle with Ryukutsusei in the anime (volume 20 of the manga). |
