I'm a little excited about the Patlabor TV release (well I guess more like rerelease) but I'm really more curious when they are going to finally give a date for Tsuritama.

Other than the classics, it's pretty much wall-to-wall "Who's even heard of this show?"

Pretty sure people know Horizon, Queen's Blade, and Another, doesn't matter that you don't. Even if you don't put any stock in MAL, Another only has over 100k people under it. Unless you're attempting some sad kind of humor that doesn't work.

I'm sure Daphne in the Brilliant Blue and La Corda d'Oro ~ Primo Passo had five or six fans, too.

I do not understand what you're trying to say here, please explain.

Actually, there are probably more people familiar with Horizon, Another, and Queen's Blade than Ruin Explorers and that other OVA.

I've really been looking forward to Another, so I can't wait to grab that one. I'm a little worried about what compromises there will be considering it's a Kadokowa title. Hopefully, the long delay they pushed was enough.

It's also nice to see Special A getting a dub. This likely means it was picked up in the UK or Australia like Princess Resurrection.

Patlabor as well, for that matter. Not nearly as known as it once was. Was penguintruth trying to be a funny little excrement, or is he delusional? I honestly can't tell the difference. Difference between anime like Daphne and stuff like Another is when they aired, and how they were delivered. Daphne would have to rely on fansubs only before most people had great connections, and then DVD sales through word of mouth and searching. Now, most people's internet is decent enough to grab all the fansubs and legal streams they can, and word of mouth with "anime-specific social networking" means shows can grow massive fanbases in no time at all. More people have seen (fully) Kill Me Baby, according to MAL, than Patlabor TV. With well over 300,000 people using MAL, I'll lend it some credence. Best yardstick I can find easily.

Only Horizon II that I'm really anticipating out of this. I may have missed it in a previous monthly slate, but has Zero no Tsukaima F been given a scheduled release yet?

.

I doubt Zero will get a release until Sentai is able to secure the rest of the seasons. There have been rumors that they have them and have even starting dubbing them, but nothing has been confirmed. It wouldn't make any sense to release season four with the rest of the show unavailable here.

Thanks for the hearty laugh.

My point was that Sentai/Section 23 tends to license a lot of low-impact properties, fluff anime that will be largely forgotten in a few years. Ten years from now people will still be talking about Patlabor, but nobody's going to give a f*** about Phi-Brain or Dream Eater Merry.

Who's really the delusional one here? Patlabor has maintained fandom for over twenty years but most of the other properties Section 23 gets are forgotten a couple of years later.

Since when is it part of an anime company's business strategy to worry about anime titles that will be around in 10 years if said company may not be around in that same amount of time? It would be great if they could sell a ton of anime that will be remembered for years (because it means future sales) but business trumps idealism when you can never be sure if you will be around in a year or two.

So? It's also not going to sell nearly as much because it's older. VOTOMS has been around for 30 years and has a strong fanbase in Japan, but it can't sell here. What's your point, ONLY classics should ever be released? I prefer older anime too, but my vision is not that farsighted that I can't see money and opportunity right in front of me with what's good and hot. But your opinion is shared by others and eternal, I'm sure it was said about Evangelion and Utena as well.
