I've seen special episodes be released with new novel/manga volumes, but never the reverse.

I recently began trying to avoid any forum related to railgun but since this is technically related to the novels...
It'll be interesting to see what this volume contains since the the last SS volume was a bunch of short stories while the first had some relevant content in it (not that the second SS was irrelevant from what I can tell, but I haven't gotten around to reading that one yet) I wonder why they're calling it 'SSS' now though? Is it because we're in NT?

Actually common at the moment, all the rage. Sakurasou no Petto na Kanojo BD1 came with a short LN, Onsen no Petto na Kanojo as an Onsen side story novel. LoveLive! comes with a little book. Mondaiji comes with a story. Not sure if any of these will get translated for the R1 releases so my usual advice applies: for best results, learn Japanese!
Heck, Mimori Suzuko's latest single Aitaiyo...Aitaiyo! comes with a novel, Jingle Love Story!
