Well, the ani-manga has the same story as the anime, so there are some slight differences. But if you've seen the anime, there isn't much point in getting it.
Most of the differences between the anime/ani-manga and the original manga are pretty subtle. Alot of it is characterization: most of the characters, especially Kagome, are ALOT less annoying in the manga. Kikyo is portrayed more sympathetically, and her motivations are a little more clear to the reader. There are some pacing differences, usually for the better. Also, the manga's a little more graphic, with more nudity and gore: there's more evidence of Rumiko Takahashi's style of visual horror, like in Mermaid Saga. Oh, and you obviously don't have all the annoying filler episodes in the manga.

The ani-manga pretty much just takes artword from the show and puts into manga form. Go with the original manga instead because you can see how InuYasha should be. Also the show, manga and ani-manga pretty much tell the same story since they are based on each other.

...what exactly is ani-manga? do they take the exact scenes/dialogue from the anime and put it into manga form?

Basically, a page of ani-manga is composed of screenshots from the anime to serve as "panels." They are placed in a way to give the same cinematic, snapshot feeling one gets from reading the original manga. The dialogue comes directly from the anime's script, and sound effects are included. While neat, I find ani-manga's kinda pointless: if I wanted the original story, I would go with the original manga. If I wanted to see the story in motion and with voices, I would go for the anime. The ani-manga does neither.

Some advantage from the ani-manga is that it has color page (but cost more) and nicer production value. It's basically setup like an american comic book. If you haven't seen the anime, this might be worth getting.

Well, that's only if you haven't seen that anime. To me if you seen it don't get the ani manga. Just the same thing (storyline)except you have to take the time of reading. Unless, you collect aniem items I wouldn't recommend it.
