I really hope this series is popular enough for Hasbro to decide to give it an English dub and getting the original living voice actors back for their parts.

Because, the American 4th season was a total train wreck and is an embarrassment to American animation, even for an 80's cartoon, The Headmasters was more logical, plausible, and I'd go as far as to say that it the best season after season 1 despite not having a proper dub.

Yeah, I've been looking forward to this for a while. This is basically Japan's season 4 where the rest of us got the severely rushed 3 part episode. That doesn't mean this will be great or anything, but it's on par with the rest of the series.

Hopefully they can get Masterforce and Victory released here too.

By the way, Madman released DVDs of the Japanese series in Australia. Also, Shout will be releasing Beast Wars.

Hasbro's not planning on dubbing these series. Shout has shown interested in including a fandub that's actually of a decent calibre.

Lousy cheap company. But I place more blame on the G-whiners.

Personally, I think they should give G1 the 'Dragon Ball Z Kai Treatment' as I call it. Let's face it, G-Whiners ALWAYS bitch about any new series that comes out just because it's not the original. They ought to shut up and watch because some of the new series are actually quite good. And of course some are bad (TF Animated, Bayformers, TF Prime looks ridiculous).

If it were up to me, I'd filter out the bad episodes, fix all the animation errors, add some new scenes and revoice some lines to pace the series a little better, also I'd like Leonard Nemoy back s Galvatron for the full 3rd season instead of Frank Welker's whiny version. And to top it off, exclude the American 4th season and dub The Headmasters. And we got a TF series that the original g-whiner can enjoy as well as the younger audience.

I personally think Galaxy Force, although it wasn't perfect, (CG robots), is the best series made so far in terms of story, and I'm a guy who used to watch Transformers BEFORE even the Generation 2 CG transitions were made. And it was darker than the other series, problem was the dub ruined it as well as the bad dubs of Super Link, Micron Legend, and Car Robots.

I love when people spend an entire post generalizing and bitching about people they think just generalize and bitch.

Ok, so TF Animated is bad and Galaxy Force is the best series?!? What are you smoking? Galaxy Force is the best of the A/E/C (ML/SL/GF) trilogy, but it pales in comparison to TF Animated, Beast Wars, Beast Machines or even TF Prime. A lot of fans dismissed Animated because of the weird art style (I hated it at first too), but the writing is excellent.

And Headmasters is rather terrible (The US's rushed "season 4" is better IMO), but I hope it sales well enough that Masterforce gets a US release. Its the most enjoyable of the Japanese G1 shows.

From my understanding, there is a dub, but it's of questionable quality- an 80's HK dub [think Clash of the Bionoids] that was included on the UK release, with all kinds of odd name changes. No idea if SFactory's using it, as they've indicated japanese w/subs so far.

Given the length of the series, I imagine they thought it'd be more economical to do the releases this way- this is less than $1 an episode, and Shout's packaging and extras are generally high quality, so I'll definitely be getting this. Their release of Oban Star Racers was fantastic

If someone spilling out mostly facts is bitching to you, then you're an idiot.

Almost any TF fan will say Nemoy's Galvatron was better, 4th season was a letdown, many episodes of the original were bad, and anyone who loves G1 but not the anime series mostly saw the dubs. And it's a fact that the dubs of RiD and Unicron Trilogy were not good.

TFGF was the one that actually had more of a plot than any other series as well as character development in both humans and Transformers. The animation (cel) is nice to look at. And it was different because there actually had the least amount of recycled elements from preceding series, besides Beast Wars, but it was different enough.

Beast Machines was really boring imo, at least from what I saw, but Beast Wars was just not my cup of tea. The cast was too small and I didn't like them all very much.

I think Animated was bad not just because of the horrendous art style, but the action scenes were so unbelievably cheesy. Nothing but melee weapons most of the time, it was TF Victory only with lousy art. And the story involving way too many humans, superhero roles for the Autobots, they're weak if they could get beaten up by humans. I like a more serious TF series. And this is just me, but I don't like a series to recycle so many characters from older series, with the exceptions of Optimus Prime and Megatron. We had dinobots AGAIN, we had Brawn AGAIN, we had Bumblebee, Jazz, Cliffjumper, AGAIN, there's just very little originality in characters and it took elements from the live-action movies, which I didn't like. Not well-written, just recycled.

American 4th season, there are more plot holes in that mini season than the entire Headmaster series, and it just didn't make sense, at all, let alone it was so silly, building a rocket big enough to move Cybertron. They bring back Prime and instead of giving him the lead, he's tossed aside for green people. Sorry, but at least the opening trilogy of Headmasters gave Prime 3 episodes to shine and die a hero again instead of having him panicking over a key. And as silly as Masterforce was, with robots shrinking down and transforming into humans, it's already established that mass displacement existed, so that was pretty much a more advanced form which is why it's easier accept.

Actually not one single thing in your post was fact, but all opinion. LOL

And I don't actually disagree with anything you said. You just start a post instantly calling all G1 fan whiners every single time you refer to them, but the fact you've seen all these shows proves you're a bigger fanboy than most (I've seen them too so I'm in the same boat).

You were just being needlessly hostile towards fans you share more in common with than you care to admit. I always find this type of behavior in fan circles rather annoying and pointless. Just state your opinion without getting into name calling. Is it that hard?

They're intertwined together in posts, be a bit sharper when locating them

There WERE bad G1 episodes - FACT
Newer series always get backlash from G-1ers - FACT
Each series always, if you go to forums, are being ridiculed for not being like G1. - FACT
Unicron Trilogy dubs ruined the shows - FACT, and I'm a guy who actually PREFERS dubbed anime altogether.

As you can see, I'm expressing my thoughts using facts as a basis to justify my beliefs. I'm not stating that Galaxy Force is the best because I say so, but BECAUSE OF THE FACTS that it was this and that - I'm not gonna repeat - So please, let's not misallocate and be a lil bit sharp.

And calling them G-whiners better represents their stance on the whole TF franchise than simply calling them G1ers. A G1er can be someone who likes the original the most but not necessarily a hater of later series, but G-whiner believe it or not has become an actual term to describe people who can't accept any new series, you see that word used by a lot of people. Call it 'hostility' or w/e but is there a better term? At least I'm 'bitching' over some behavior which is more plausible than 'bitching' over an old TV show. Or maybe you're reading the posts in a way so that in your head it sounds like bitching when if I could speak to you face to face, I'd be in a calm state describing my thoughts on G1 and its flaws and how the G1-exclusive fans contradict themselves.

Even if I am a 'bigger fanboy' after watching most of the series, at least I'm not geeky about it to the point where I have air-tight standards of what makes a good TF series. All I ask for is a TF show to be serious (not Gundam serious, just as long as it isn't overly kid friendly), and you can do so much within that simple guideline.

Wile Headmasters is a truly awful show I still hope it does well enough to get Masterforce released over here as IMO it was the only Transformers show the Japanese ever produced that was of any quality. As for the dubbing of any of these shows it's not going to happen, nor should it as these sets are really only going to appeal to the base hardcore TF fans so the extra costs for dubbing it are not going to be worth it.

Big thing I really like about this release is the price as for $20 that's a deal. When Shout first announced their interest in releasing the Japanese TF shows last year I was worried that cost was going to turn people away from picking these up so it's good to see they are pricing them this way. My guess is with the third Bay movie on the way they are probably hoping to turn a profit on these on the Transformers brand alone. But like I said as long as it gets Masterforce released I'm good.

Wow, this is a good start since this is my first contribute news that I had done. I have never seen the Japanese Transformers and I am about to watch these untold Transformers series. I am happy that Shout Factory has started to release the Japanese Transformers.

It would be cool that The Hub, Hasbro's channel, would air the Japanese Transformers since that would make it sorta their first anime to air on their network even though Hasbro is airing the original Transfomers and GI Joe along with their new incarnations.

From memory this, along with Masterforce and Victory, got a combines box set release in R4 years back and was pretty decent quality. I find it kinda funny that while plenty of R4 anime fans import from R1, no-one in R1 regions seems to be capable of importing from R4. Multiregion players have been a necessity as an anime fan since the vhs era imo.
