Recently I noticed in one of Absolut Vodka's commertials (the ones which they have random images of "cool" things and call them absolut) that a clip from Akira was shown under "Absolut Anime." Certainly an odd clip if you ask me, though I guess thet're marketing people think it's the hip thing nowadays.
On an unrelated note, they did have a nice tribute to Steve McQueen in the same commertial.

Steve is the man. Thanks to him, I know how to fire a gun, how not to jump a barb wire fance, and how to pull off the prefect crime.

There once was (and I think still is) this company in Poland that made shoe-laces. The thing is, the wrapper around them had a bit raunchy pic, from some ecchi series. It featured a girl in bondage. Pretty nice artwork. I know they were (maybe are) doing it illegaly, what in my small town (and it was a couple years back), but it still was funny.
Oh, and there was this local condom company that used pictures from La Blue Girl on their products. But they quickly shut down. I guess someone told about copyright.

I seem to remember at one time that Sailormoon and scouts were featured on "Alpha-getti" tins. I used to like the stuff with a burger for lunch but after a friend pointed out the obvious to me I could no longer eat the stuff without blushing. In the 60's I seem to remember ads of Fred Flintstone selling cigarettes and earlier I think I was common for live television characters to advertise such things. During war years in the 40's there were a whole collection of Warner Brothers toons that had "get to know the enemy" themes. These are seldom seen today simply because they tended to be in bad taste.

Yeah, I remember seeing the actors of I Love Lucy smoking Philip Morris cigarettes in an old commertial and saying something along the lines of "Philip Morris cigarettes are much healthier for you than any of its competitors!" Laughing
Oh, and Steve is undoubtably the man (heck, they even listed him under "Absolut Man".)

If someone like Daisuke Jigen of Lupin the Third looks up to Steve McQueen, he has got to be the man.

I seem to remember that flintstones commercial too. But that was way back when ciggarets were like a nickel and people didn't know about the cancer thing.

From one of my British Motorcycle Magazines:

Please Teacher! might be questionable.
