I've been thinking about getting into a CLAMP manga for some time, so I happened to find this encylopedia entry which states that a boxset of this series was released in 2003. Assuming that's an English release, then what's this at Amazon.com that says a boxset is due out in July 2006? Plus, Tokyopop made Clover out of print some time ago, so I'm...confused. Confused

The second thing: I'm mainly into shounen but I enjoy shoujo titles by Arina Tanemura too. I don't really like to read anything slow and seemingly doesn't get anywhere, although I do have patience if people tell me a title is really good. The ratings for Clover are fairly high, but I'd like to know why it was really good. I'm confident in CLAMP's ability to make manga; I just need some reassurance that I'll enjoy this title. I know it's out of print, but maybe I can find it somewhere. If not, I can just import. Thanks in advance for replies.

That box set's release date has kept getting pushed back since LAST July. I doubt it'll actually be released anytime soon. It's a shame, because I've never read a Clamp manga and Clover was the only one I was ever interested in trying...[/url]

It is a good thing to note that, while apparently Clover vol 4 does end rather resolved, the series is officially not complete (it's still listed on CLAMP's official site as being a current series), however no new material has appeared for several years.

Right Stuf doesn't even recognize Clover. I've heard about it and see some of the CLAMP artwork for it so it looks interesting. Too bad no one wants to keep it up,

I read the first volume at the library. I was reading the inside cover and I thought this is one crappy poem but then realized it was a summary which they thought would be fun to put in poetry form but nowhere near a real poem. It was quite lame.

They're song lyrics. The song is a plot point, and a general indicator of the series' mood. No, it's not a work of poetic genius, but it fits the minimalist, simple yet stylized feel of the manga.

I think the magazine that published Clover folded. It's kind of a collection of linked stories, and it's obvious that it was building to a conclusion that's never delivered, but what there is of Clover stands alone fairly well, unlike X's hiatus.

I just looked in the encyclopedia about that, three magazines were listed as serializing Clover: Bouquet, Cookie, Monthly Amie. I don't know about Bouquet and Monthly Amie, but I know Cookie is still going strong, since that's also what NANA is serialized in.

Hmm. It does indeed say that. I think it's wrong, though. The Clamp no Kiseki article on Clover only talks about Amie. It mentions that it was a brand new magazine; Clover started in its debut issue. The interview with CLAMP ends with Ohkawa saying the magazine it was written for was discontinued.

Tokyo Babylon was published in two magazines, South and Wings, and Clamp no Kiseki mentions both, so I would think if Clover had been published in multiple magazines it would have been mentioned. And finally Nana's Cookie is a Shueisha publication, where Amie and all four volumes of Clover in book form were put out by Kodansha. (I don't know anything about Bouquet either.)

I guess I should submit an error report.

Hmmm. You'd think however that CLAMP could have finished the run in a different magazine, especially considering they themselves still list Clover as on-going.

Well, I think it depends on whether or not they could change publishers for the title, because if this site (http://www.kodanclub.com/catalog/mg_women.html) accurately describes Kodansha's current, complete magazine line-up for a female demographic, they don't really have anything that would be a good fit for Clover. Or if they could bypass serialization and go straight to tankoubon, a la Kaori Yuki's Count Cain...

CLAMP and their unfinished manga are just really odd situations, it's hard to really come up with any definite answers for why they haven't been finished, because I'm sure if they wanted to get them out there, they could do it, no problem. After all, they are CLAMP.
