I noticed an inconsistency in the Producing Company information... the OAV credits list:

Produced For:
Tohokushinsha
Bandai
MOVIC

Produced By:
Gainax

Huh?! Where is that? I checked the entry and didn't see a trace of GAINAX there.

I thought you mean its Encyclopedia entry has both "Porduced by" and "Produced for" as separate tasks. For your screencap...I'll double check with my disc, which is not with me right now, unless you have a better and handier source. After the Full Metal Panic! incident I don't trust R1 DVD ending credits anymore.

In this case Tohokushinsha, Bandai, and MOVIC supplied the money, while Gainax did the animation work.

The proper credit (for our purposes) is "Animation production"—or so I assume.

I should note that I did remember that Gainax was involved (note the credit for Hideaki Anno), but I can not prove it (I think). OTOH, Allcinema does confirm Anno's involvement.

As a side note, Hiroaki Ogura (#10043) and Hiromasa Ogura (#421) seem to be the same person—the names in kanji seem to be identical (to my untrained eye). This site confirms the existence of Hiromasa Ogura. (Both are credited with work on Appleseed.)
