As long as it's better than the OVA. That was just...argh.

I acutally saw the OAV (fansub) before I started reading (and buying) the manga. I found it quite dry and pretty terrible. Now I'm the guy everyone at my anime club hated for showing stuff like Witch Hunter Robin and Angel's Egg. If I found it borning and too decompressed, that's saying something. No wonder no US company has picked it up.

The manga, however was pretty damn good. Bought the whole thing. It was a pretty good family drama, something not too popular among all the action titles. It wasn't really a typical shojo or romance book either. Like Monster or Homonculus, it was just a good human drama that didn't fit into a popular category.

I know there was a Japanese live action film based on the book as well as the OAV anime. I actually would rather see a live action American (or at least English) version than another anime. It's a realistic manga that would be easier and perhaps better done live than animated.

Then again, I gotta say I'm not a fan of Stu Levy. To me, he is to manga what Bill Gates is to the computer world. He's redefining the market, redefining its terms, playing off the ignorance people have of the market, not giving compedators a fair chance, and trying to create a monopoly. I gotta give him credit though. He's doing a damn good job at it. Oh and in this comparison Viz can be Apple. Darkhose can be Netscape or Linux. Ok, I'm taking it too far now.
