I've read only two volumes of the manga, so far. It holds the same basic storyline, but there are still lots of differences. What I mean is the story is told differently, and the characters, although they share the same personalities as their anime counterparts, are portrayed and react differently, but neither completely "go away" from the original anime series. Personally, I think you should read it for yourself to truly decide what you would consider "different," though I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good retelling.

It has some differences, such as openings, fights, and cutback drop turns, but it still seems like a clone to the anime. Either way, I like it.

It's not bad. I definitly feels like it is supposed to be an abridged version of the anime. I just wish I didn't miss the anime as much as I do.
