As usual, his work is beautiful when it comes to visuals. That premise is enough for a movie also.

It really is. And this is why he's so awesome at making commercials. He seems to really understand just how important these things are, things that most of us take for granted.

So he's not making more movies? Because this is BS.
It looks amazing, but it's not a movie. I respect his choices, but I want him to make a movie already.

He's still making movies. Garden of Words came out just last year and he made a seven minute short film less then a year ago.
He's been doing commercials as side projects for years.

I've seen both, I just want more. I'm being an obnoxious fan, I know. Garden of the words was about 45 miuntes, if I recall correctly. I would like to see a longer movie.
I really did like the short by the way.

Shinkai is a good artist and decent director but his scripts are bad. So the shorter movies he makes — the better.

I wish so too. I can feel the amount of potential that setting can provide for a heartfelt movie.

I like the idea of these commercials in just giving viewers something pretty to actually look at during the breaks. The closest we have are those Ability commercials drawn in a watercolor scheme, but they're mostly just the narrator telling how Ability will mangle and kill you.

Because I think the same. I like his art direction but always meh on the script.

Honestly, I completely agree with this as well. Garden of Words is by far my favorite movie of his, and at 45 minutes you can hardly call it by that definition. 5 Centimeters Per Second works pretty well because it's basically three short stories. Meanwhile, Children Who Chase Lost Voices, by far his longest film, is despite some beautiful animation one of the more mediocre anime movies I've seen in some time (and for a movie that so obviously apes Miyazaki Hayao and Studio Ghibli, it was actually far worse than anything Ghibli has created - including Tales from Earthsea, which actually seems coherent and meaningful in comparison).
