I was looking at the encyclopedia information on 8th Ms team. I saw that it said that episode 12 went unaired. Did that really happen? If so what was it like?

It takes place after the end of the war (this was rumored to be the reason it didn't air, so that the end of the war wouldn't be spoiled for everyone watching Mobile Suit Gundam, which was airing at the saime time). Shiro and Aina have been missing, presumed dead for a long while. Michel and Kiki go searching for them and keep finding signs that they're alive (for instance, a bunch of orphans named after members of the 08th MS Team), but they're already gone by the time Michel and Kiki show up. Spoiler: spoiler[At the end, they finally find the two of them living happily together out in the middle of no where.] |

In addition to zaphdash's post, the orphans were part of The Flanagan Project - a Zeon-funded experiment on children supposedly having Newtype abilities. This was a reference to a subplot in the original series.
