Thank you very much, Hamashima-san!!!!!

Hamashima's artwork can be found on her Pixiv (NSFW!!!).

(wow, she draws futanari too)
recent nsfw cover collection of her art on twitter: https://twitter.com/shigeo_h/status/543056557282324480

I knew there were a lot of women making eroge, ero-manga, non-ero ecchi works (Bless their hearts!) but damn, I'm still surprised at the gal working at Clockup of all places, including on Euphoria Shocked

A woman who makes a living drawing porn. Ironically, many women find that porn objectifies women.

And even more ironic is that these are the same women that are also huge fans of 50 Shades of Gray

Not surprising to me as many of the loli artists I like tend to be women, they just have that touch many of the male artists don't have.

A very... special interview, thanks for the link.

Though I don't appreciate the fact that Hamashima didn't go out on a limb. Some of her answers are as generic as they can get:

"How do you feel about censorship" --> Obviously I have to abide
"What is your process like?" --> Sketches into final version

I find it amusing that the dream VN she wants to work on is a porn focused VN with a lot sex scenes with multiple CGs for full detail. She obviously loves drawing lewd scenes, and I can't help but respect that love.

Actually your point and her creative thoughts behind her BL, where she classifies the rougher, perhaps S&M-like relationship as "masculine" in contrast with the more mainstream shoujo/josei-esque depictions of it:
Quote:
"Most of my research was focused on figuring out how far I could push a more explicit approach to sex and still appeal to other women. I consulted with other women about whether I could get away with a more masculine approach instead of a sparkly-clean, romanticized one."

makes me wonder if more women than meets-the-eye enjoy the more umm.. freaky and rougher fantasies too. I read an old psychology journal article about it but I haven't seen anything acknowledging it with regards to this subculture. I assume it's got to be present given the vast amount of works on Renta! and other doujinshi (hetro- & homoerotica) aimed at women, though I'm not familiar with them.

There isn't anything wrong with working on 18+ titles, they, too, have artistic assets, require directors and writers, and are the culmination of the work done by numerous people.

Can't wait for next Monday.

I knew from before there were many women working in the eroge industry, so I shouldn't be surprised, but...
Quote:
A lot of people, especially outside of Japan, are kind of surprised when they find out a woman did the art for Euphoria. What was it like working on the game?..
..
Hamashima: They used a bunch of scenes I wanted to include, so I had a lot of fun drawing them.

... Shocked

So there's a woman out there who sincerely wants me to fap to her work from the bottom of her heart? Good to know

Well, in all probability, some woman had to like those types of scenes. She just happened to be good at drawing and worked at a porn game company. Certainly a bizarre coincidence, eh? Laughing

I'm personally excited for that VN though. Bizarre scenes aside, I also heard it was really avant-garde.

@Hoppy800

Very true Marcy dog and Yui Haga have a very distinct style to their porn. Still some men can draw decent erotica, take Rustle "my jimmies" for example Laughing

That aside this interview was kinda bland and generic but I'm happy Shigeo Hamashima took the time to answer questions.

An interesting interview, especially since I'm familiar with some of her work.
