While the first volumes certainly do give the impression we're expected to follow Karluk and Amir, my overall perception of the series thus far (-volume 7) is it's actually pretty faithful to it's name, 'A Bride's Story', with each mini-scenario basically involving something with marriage, wedding or alike between various people, loosely sewn together to a flowing overall narrative by interconnecting storylines and 'viewpoint' characters like Smith.

Great series though. Mori is a great artist.

The characters in this volume were so adorable. And then to add even more wonderfulness, the extra sketch excerpts in the back... with fanart of two of my favorite operas. I really hope they release that book here! It's not Anything and Something, it's a different one.

A Bride's Story doesn't really have that much in the way of plot and narrative momentum. Other than the main story of Amir/Karluk and Amir's family.

There's a scene I loved in this volume where the grooms sneak off with the brides during the ceremony and there's a wordless scene of dancing and singing. It's those types of scenes where the story just dwells on these people living their lives that gives this manga it's power. Especially with the time period, where that way of life is going to become under threat.

The japanese -- otoyome monogatari -- doesn't specify whether the bride is singular or plural.

You can't do that in english, of course.

So perhaps something like The Stories of Brides would have conveyed a somewhat more accurate description of the original title?
