The final scene out the window made me think about the robot scenes in Clannad.

....And of course, Yokohama kaidashi kikou.

You beat me to it, YKK is the first thing that came to mind when I watched the trailer. It gives me shiver. Also a bit of The Sky Crawler. I'm a sucker for the scenic route kind of atmosphere.

Wow, the robot spoke really good, fluent English. I'm pretty impressed.

Also interesting is that the story deals with gaijin as second-class citizens though. Is that a major societal issue there?
