I would have gone more but the theater was 45 minutes away and I would have to pay for parking.

Is that good? What's a good gross per screen?

It looks like it did better than the 3rd Rebuild movie's opening, but Madoka Rebellion and Boruto had better opening numbers.

Interesting. I assume it was a similar number of screens then.

Sorry, I just got home and realized all of this information is linked to Box Office Mojo. Embarassed

Well it looks good for being in so few theaters but it is on the low end

$115,800 does sound underwhelming compared to bigger movies that pull in millions. However, factoring in the number of theaters Love Live has been featured in, I think it's a good number.

Edit: Yes! 3200 posts! Smile

Beyond the earnings - from a single showing in a handful of theaters - I imagine there was likely more actual benefit in keeping Love Live! a big deal in the US anime fandom, keeping people excited about NISA's forthcoming dub and the LE of season 2, talking up the streamable version to newbies, etc.

Once the dub is out there, I do hope they can get it on Netflix. That makes it so much easier to recommend to the normals…

It was 3 days at select theaters. By comparison Madoka Magica Rebellion made about 300,000 but had over a month to do it and played at about 30 theaters across the United States.

It was a wonderful film experience, worth every penny.

If I would have had the opportunity, I may have gone again Laughing

It might be good for a limited release. That's about $4137.14/per screen for this case. On average, I don't know what a good gross per screen is for a limited release.

Wish I could have gone to see it, but the only time it was playing near me it was a couple hours away. I await patiently for the legal release though.

How could these numbers be accurate? San Francisco had five showings that were sold out. I think Los Angeles had six showings. Was the movie playing at empty screens elsewhere?
