Maybe or they didn't feel the need double dip especially when it was a new console with only a few games and new controls. Also possible they didn't care too much for the story compared to earlier games |

That's around half of the total tracked retail units sold on PS4 in NA/EU in a year and a half. That's impressive for a port.

First off, the Switch moved more units in NA/EU than in Japan, for various reasons, so that accounts for at least some of the pre-orders.
Second, Disgaea 5 already got a re-release over there as one of the "The Best" titles, so if they didn't get it the first time, they may have already gotten it a second time round. Third, they had to pay for all of that DLC; I dunno how much it totals over there, but you can bet its a easy $25~$30 dollars worth. After all of that, as sailorsweeper said, they didn't want to double, or possibly even triple dip on this game =01. |

I didn't even know this game was available to pre-order. Certainly, they weren't doing so at the Targets and Toys R Usses I visited for other reasons.
