Sounds like this may be worth a look. The title immediately makes me think of Masemune-kun's Revenge, which seemed way too mean spirited from what i saw of the anime. Glad to hear this is a different kind of story.

You said everything I was thinking.
I like the idea of someone coming to realize their "tormentor" wasn't quite how they thought they were, as well as the MC growing as a person as a result.
