There's still messages that need to be told. The 2018 anime so far is filled with hard hitting social commentary include the issues of karoshi and power harassment.

Most of Kitaro's anime don't really adapt manga material. Been that way since decades ago when Shigeru Mizuki is alive.

I hope you know it was a joke...I didn't know the mangaka had passed away before the present anime started and it struck me as being fitting and very like the stories if the manga/anime were to continue being published/produced from the spirit realm (GeGeGe Forest). A literal Ghost Writer... Anime smile Kitaro is my #2 favorite this season and indeed there are many more stories to tell and that need to be told and retold. I wish I could get hold of this as I am always interested in art style and especially how an artist's style changes over long periods.
