Ghost in the Shell probably shouldn't have ever left Development Hell.

Usually some things leave development hell when it comes close to the time limit where rights would be lost, so the studio then quickly rushes something out to make a quick buck or at the very least to retain the license for another decade until they rinse and repeat, or the best case scenario, that the rushed product somehow becomes a big hit.
I'm hopeful for Gundam.

Someone would've still made a divisive live action adaptation of it even if Hollywood didn't it.
