I hoped it was a clerical error and well...i was partly correct.
However that third party mediation for services/contracts rendered is sketchy. Japan and the Anime Industry need to get that sorted out.

OH CRAP!!! I forgot that that Rohan Kishibe OVA was in production already.
Goddammit. Now I'm gonna have to wait ANOTHER two years for the Stone Ocean anime to be only greenlit.

Stone Ocean is probably already greenlit at this point - remember that Vento Aureo was greenlit in January 2017, while they were working on the first OVA + Monster Hunter & Captain Tsubasa.
It look so long to announce, because they waited 'till summer of 2017 to get some real reference material for the backgrounds + production committee allowed them to spend much more time on the production, as Part 5 is Japan's favourite & shitload of merch and Blu-Ray/DVD sales only confirms that.
That won't happen to Part 6, which is still regarded as the least favourite one amongst Japanese audience.
I originally thought the airing could start in April 2020, but considering the amount of projects DP currently has, I would say July/October 2020 sounds just about right.
