Sometimes I forget that Zac is... bi, I think? No idea why honestly—I’ve been listening to this show for like ten years.

The last anime I added to my top ten was either Princess Kaguya, or HXH 2011. I’m just rarely that intensely wowed anymore; nothing weeby has spoken to me on that deep, resonant level since.. my binge of the Berserk manga last year actually.

I really need to see House, the clips I saw on YouTube looked wild. And maybe, some day in the near future, I’ll give uncut Sailor Moon a proper shake.

I loved hearing Lynzee's top five picks! I feel like Girls Last Tour and Death Parade aren't super common favorites, but I loved Death Parade, and Zac hit the nail on the head about how strongly it pushes for empathy. I have not seen the former, but Lynzee just single-handedly sold me on it. Also, O' Maidens is definitely one of my favorite shows of the decade, so I'm glad there was even more discussion on it!

Its almost easier for me to decide my top ten (or even 20) over my top five since its so hard to leave stuff out. Even in an arbitrary list that doesn't really matter and could always change.

If I'm not counting films (if only just for the sake of a quick post - narrowing down films is way harder) my list would probably consist of Revolutionary Girl Utena, Wolf's Rain, Mawaru Penguindrum, Ping Pong the Animation, and MushiShi? Although if Fruits Basket (2019) sticks the landing by the time its over, it could sneak its way on there.

When Zac rolled out Red Line after Promare, I laughed, thinking, "I see a pattern here".

But Zac is right about Promare. The soundtrack to Promare is also good. It's weird because it's driving and strong, but there's so much happening on the screen that it basically is subsumed into the whole, complementing the visuals perfectly.

Meanwhile, Lynzee is right about O maidens in your savage season, Girls' last tour, and Death Parade.

I'd probably put Re:Creators in my top five for the clever way it does the reverse-isekai thing, and the way the fourth wall is a character in itself. But then, I'm a sucker for the people-moving-in-and-out-of-literary-works genre. I just started a re-watch, moved to do so by its own iconic soundtrack (plus no enthusiasm for the current season).

(Hey, Lynzee, here's a list idea: anime you keep coming back to because you can't get the music out of your head.)

Don't feel apologetic for including Girls' Last Tour, Lynzee. It's an excellent series. I only gave it a nine because it's incomplete. I'm sure you'd agree with the ending of the trailer, "Make friends with despair."

I'm just happy to hear Girls' Last Tour mentioned. That show got me back into watching anime several years after I drifted out of it, and it's not the kind of show that draws much attention to itself so I try to evangelize it whenever I get the chance.

I don't normally read much manga, but I had to track it down for this one since the show isn't complete and there's a panel in there of the girls in a library spoiler[sitting on top of this enormous bookshelf the size of a building and happily eating their rations while Chito decides what books to bring with her, and there's just rows and rows of gigantic shelves stretching off into darkness filled with all the books that no one will ever read again, and it just broke my heart.]

It's not even dark, somehow. It's like feel-good nihilism.

You bringing that up just reminded me once again how heart-breaking it was when Chito's book is burned intentionally like, I feel like these two are only friends because there is NO OTHER OPTION.

*Mob Psycho 100

With special mention to Noein for being my first and Code Geass for getting me fully into the medium and inspiring me to become a theater kid.

This was a pretty cool episode I thought all of the top fives were very interesting.
My top five is
Perfect Blue
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex This includes both seasons
Naruto/Shippuden This was my first real anime and it's never left my top five
Fullmetal Alchemist/Brotherhood My only flaw with these series is the ending for the 2003 version and the beginning of Brotherhood
Avatar The Last Airbender I don't care if anyone says this isn't anime. Best tv show of all time with zero bad episodes, even the weakest one is still pretty good.

I really love hearing people's top five lists it's always interesting hearing what people's taste in entertainment is.

I thought that often at the outset of Girls' Last Tour. They really had so little in common. I don't know if they considered themselves friends when they were forced to leave "grandpa's" compound, and during the first half of their journey I thought Chito was largely putting up with Yuuki for companionship and protection. I believe by the end they really have become friends as their understanding of each other's personality deepens. Their development together really makes this show work for me. Luckily we are blessed with two excellent seiyuu in these very demanding roles, Minase Inori and Kubo Yurika. Without their chemistry this show would have been a dud.
