Panda global recently released a statement.
The panda Ceo really seemed to completely screw everything up. We were about to have two big tournaments this month and now we’ll have none. |

Nintendo has systematically dismantled fan organisations using its content, removing all high credibility competitive smash tournaments. Though I believe that blaming panda for rumours is a bit much, however much you think it might be true.

I wouldn't call them rumours if multiple Tournament Organizers are saying the same thing about him.
