One of the running theories was DK 94 was being held back so as not to conflict with Mario vs DK sales a while ago - that certainly seems to be why the GBA version wasn't added to Switch Online.
Even if you're not a fan of the original Donkey Kong arcade game, it is VERY worth playing DK 94. It's a very obscure prize of a Mario platforming game, and is one of those instances where Nintendo perfectly nailed what a Gameboy experience should look & feel like when compared to its console counterparts. A shining example of designing a full-featured Mario around tech limitations.

We could have had Pokemon Gens I-III on NSO but instead we got this.
