That's what I enjoy about this series. Despite the questionable fanservice the series tells a lovely story about the bonds of family and acceptance and personal growth. The great animation is a nice bonus too.

Hey Richard, I was wondering how you were able to watch this. Did you view it in Japan or were you able to see it in a US theater (or any other theater outside of Japan). I ask because I haven't able to ascertain when this movie will be shown in US theaters.

Richard lives in Japan, so he gets us reviews as films premiere in theaters there. Crunchyroll plans to release it in theaters in North America, but has not announced when.

I don't want to be too nitpicky or "score focused" but I'm curious of a few things. The review is very positive and I have not seen the film myself.

In the Animation and Art categories it scored an A-. The reviewer only had positive things to say, and that it exceeded the TV series. Now, I personally believe Dragon Maid to be a beautiful show...the reviewer must place the TV series at a B+ or lower to reach this rank...or they feel for what it needed to accomplish in the film it hit an A-. While it isnt a bad rank, I feel like this is already something Dragon Maid clearly gets an A in, while the reviewer also hypes it up as being the best Dragon Maids looked. I guess it chocks up to me needing to hear more negatives from the reviewer or for why them, personally, it gets docked points...this is even more obvious in the second thing.

Same points as last for Music. I know tweaking over an A- is pretty sad but a C+ for music? I just gotta read what it is that you don't like because the only points about music and audio were praise.

I appreciate the review, it was just deflating and confusing to get through reading such a positive review and then reading the score breakdown. Was the music bad outside the OP you seemed to really enjoy? Would just like a little expansion on the negatives. Thank you for the review!

Couldn't have put it better myself. Once you look past the fanservice there is an incredibly sweet and wholesome theme based on family dynamics no matter what the makeup of said family is.
