Yeah, this is one of the many Switch 2 games that I probably would have bought within a few months of it's release date and then proceeded to leave on my shelf, collecting dust, until a game drought eventually presented itself. That's what happened with Disgaea 5 Complete on the Switch 1 many years ago... and I still haven't played it. However, for better or worse, this Switch 2 game is a key card (as the reviewer points out), and I've decided not to purchase key cards. Is that silly? Maybe, but at least it's helped to reign in my excessive game purchases. If I run out of new games to play in the near future because of this philosophy, at least I'll still have options like Disgaea 5 Complete to fall back on. Granted, I'm often too busy for gaming these days, so that might never happen. I should probably thank Nintendo for helping to open my eyes to the wasteful spending habits I developed years ago.

It should be noted that NIS actually double-screwed pretty much every western fan that got this on anything other than a Switch 2. What they billed as the "Complete Edition" if you got this Day 1 on Playstation or other platforms a while back (even the original Switch?) is missing the free update with extra campaign and renewed endgame level limits that is the main selling point of this Switch 2 release. All non-Switch 2 copies of the game are now missing the upper-limit endgame every other Disgaea game has had.

Japan got it on all versions as a free system update with extra DLC characters to pay for. Western copies of the game are currently getting nothing - even if you previously bought a Disgaea 7 Complete Pass.

The second Phantom Brave apparently didn't sell so well, and NIS has been cycling in and out of financial trouble for a while.... and now with this, no western fan of NIS ever has reason to trust them again.

But I don't think a thought-provoking story is what most Disgaea fans are here for. At least, that not what I want out of these games.

I'm gonna go outside and lay in the road with my PSP, and help Adell try to save his family. There's a pretty good chance NIS is gonna be completely done now, I know I am.

Timed exclusive most likely, also these so called fans really want the company they like to fail.

Love the energy in this thread! The new season has some solid storylines coming up. Between episodes, I tried Twin Spin free spins — it’s quick, colorful, and oddly satisfying after watching something intense. Anyone else following the latest releases this week?

I haven't played Disgaea since Disgaea 5. Disgaea 6 just came out at a time I wasn't really interested in playing, and I don't know if I'll pick up Disgaea 7. I bought the 2nd Phantom Brave game for the Switch and even bought the DLC, but have yet to play it because of my game backlog. However, buying the 2nd Phantom Brave game became a real hassle. I preordered it at my local Gamestop, waited a month after release and then never getting it in to fill my preorder, that I just cancelled it. I eventually, just looked for it at other locations nearby and no one had it. I eventually found it at a Gamestop several states away a couple months later.

As for Disgaea 7 having inferior versions on other platforms or being a kick in the face to players, all I have to say is, "First time?" This is nothing new from this company. They released a more complete version of Disgaea 2 on the PSP and same goes for Disgaea 3. Originals get kicked by this company. Phantom Brave on the PS2 has a superior version on the Wii, Switch, PC, and even the PS5. Other companies also do this. Additional content makes sales. It's low effort and hurts those who want to experience that content.
