Charger Girl Juden-Chan and Kanokon are already on Crunchy, but I'm curious if OceanVeil is getting the uncensored versions.

I figured a Media Blasters partnership was coming. It's probably relatively cheap, and the usual response to any news about Media Blasters is, "They still exist?" so I'm sure it is a good deal there.

Dare I ask what that dub is like?

That's great. The anime industry in the U.S. has contracted TOO much (looking at you, Sony), so I'm glad to see some of the smaller players working together to carve out a niche.

From the vol.1 review:

Theron_Martin wrote:
While the Japanese dub does a pretty good job of enlivening its characters, the English dub is awful. Anime Works farmed the ADR production out to Arventil Media Productions, whose lack of experience on major projects (they've only done a handful of titles, mostly short and obscure OVAs) really shows. It also doesn't help that most of their vocal talent consists of complete or relative newcomers. Pronunciations of some character names (especially Yusuke and Sanae) are gratingly bad, performances are off the mark or just leaden, and voices often aren't good matches for the characters. The first episode, in fact, has one of the single worst English dubs of any recent-release anime episode to come out in the past couple of years. The dub does get marginally better as the volume progresses and a couple of the performances are at least competent, but overall it's bad enough to cripple a series that was already floundering. Even the most dedicated dub fans are likely to have a hard time tolerating this one.

Some of the VAs involved had or would go on to have respectable careers, so the problem wasn't solely a lack of talent. More likely, it was just a rushed/low-budget production for a show that didn't inspire anyone to care about it. Kanokon (whose English dub, along with Juuden-chan's, is oddly not being made available) was dubbed by the same studio, and its dub is within striking distance of average.

Ah, Grenadier! To this day, the only thing I remember about it is this very quick showdown in the last episode (I think), but it will forever live rent free in my brain.

To follow up on Zallis116's post, nearly 20 years have passed since I wrote that review and I still bring up Green Green when talking about all-time-worst anime dubs. Agreed that some of the key voice actors did go on told have solid careers: this may have been Bryce Papenbrook's first major role, and Cindy Robinson has certainly had quality performances elsewhere (Balsa in Moribito, the title role in Paprika, and plenty more recent roles), so perhaps they learned a lot from that experience?

On another note, good to see Doomed Megalopolis back in circulation. That one looks too good to be left to obscurity.

Kinda weird certain titles are being streamed sub-only when I know they have dubs, still I like this partnership, maybe if we’re lucky this will go the other way around and Media Blasters can be the ones to release Oceanveil titles on home video, I’d happily buy Adam’s Sweet Agony as well as a future Nukitashi Blu Ray (especially with that English dub coming up). Also would just like to see companies like Media Blasters get more licenses to put out. Still, we’ll have to wait and see

Is is worse than the dub for Psychic Wars? I recall that one sounded like they were just reading the script, with no attempt at any emotion at all.

I'm glad there's another player in this game but I would like them to expand outside the US, there's market to capitalize in Latin America and Europe, only if they do that they better talk to us in our language, we don't want another Hidive.

Think maybe OceanVeil can go ahead and redub Green Green perchance? Can't be worse than the one back then.

Fantastic Children's dub is certainly delightful.

I don't think the show has a big enough audience to justify that.
