The lesser of two evils winning in this case. Sometimes in this country that is the best you can hope for. Paramount may return with a higher offer still but hard to tell if they can beat Netflix’s offer in the long run especially if the issue is too much foreign backing. Trump still beefing with Paramount in public takes away any ideas that WB would only experience positives from the partnership. CBS still gets blasted by the administration even after their sycophantic turn.

Paramount made a hostile takeover bid for Warner Bros. Discovery on December 8, three days after Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery entered into a definitive agreement for Netflix to acquire Warner Bros., its film studios, its television studios, HBO, and HBO Max. Paramount was offering US$30 per Warner Bros. Discovery share as opposed to Netflix's offer of US$27.75 per share. Unlike Netflix, which was seeking to acquire Warner Bros. after Warner Bros. Discovery splits into Warner Bros. and Discovery Global, Paramount was aiming to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery as a whole. The company also noted that its offer was worth US$108.4 billion compared to Netflix's approximately US$82.7 billion. As a hostile takeover bid, Paramount's offer was unsolicited, but the company was hoping to appeal to the Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders

Paramount thought they were slick with that lil $2.25 extra per share for the ENTIRETY of WBD

Choosing the lesser evil is still choosing evil.
Personally let then go out of business.

It is very likely that despite Hollywood's public opposition to all things "Trump", in private they are all secretly hoping Paramount takes WB, because Netflix upsets their control of the apple cart.

But as we thought, their takeover bid was a poor offer, WB would make significantly more splitting the company and selling the pieces to Netflix and others.

The concerns over foreign Saudi money are overblown. Owning shares through funds doesn't give them any creative control. It is concerning only if you worry that many American products and companies are increasingly foreign owned which in the long term is not a benefit to the labour of Americans where less of the country's overall wealth belongs to them.

Paramount would be better if you believe that creative and distributive control belongs in the creative's hands who still value theaterical experiences and physical ownership versus designed-for streaming-only to-distracted-at-home models.

Regardless of who wins the 'bidding war' for WB, the customers still lose in the end while the shareholders further enrich themselves.

Not to put the damper on some people's relief, but I think I should mention that this article, and several other articles as well, are slightly misleading. There’s no incorrect information here, just some of the info is incomplete. Warner Bros still hasn’t actually rejected Paramount. The Board of Directors has rejected the offer and recommended that the shareholders reject it, But that is not the same thing as WB rejecting the offer. Remember a Hostile Takeover is when someone goes over the heads of a publicly traded company's CEO or Board of Directors and appeals directly to the shareholders. The Shareholders still haven’t voted yet so we won't actually know until the next Shareholder meeting whether or not the Paramount bid will go through or not. I do however still feel like it is unlikely that Paramout will get WB.

Paramount re-merging with CBS and Disney getting Pixar are M&As I side with. WB Discovery selling off assets like CNN might be better. Heck, I don't think AT&T, AOL, and Discovery should have ever merged with the WB. Oh, and I detest Trump for letting Disney getting 20CF. That is why I didn't revote for him in 2020 and 2024. I only voted locally those years.

WBD rejected the Paramount bid because they used Elon's Twitter acquisition denial firm to threaten Zaslav and the Board. Also Board was questioning the finances of the deal since Ellison was paying his share through a trust he had exclusive control of, whose assets are vague and hidden.

How many times has Warner Bros. Discovery rejected Paramount already? They don't want you. Move on. No means no! #ManOfSteelToo
