Lol The stereotype is probably true on some overall generalized scale across the industry, but in the places I frequent, female artists/authors making work for female readers openly depict some of the most delightfully deplorable content I've seen out there, and it's not often intended to make a critical point about sexual violence or violence against women in general. Sometimes it's to "neuron activate" our brains with fear, thrill, and excitement. Other times (specifically in fiction) it's to allow those of us with shame around expressing desire to explore it without attaching the shame of our own agency to it. And even other times, it's just fun to fantasize and I can't explain why.
I still haven't had the chance to read this series, but I've peaked in it at the store and this review makes me really intrigued. Thank you!
