I'm concerned that the warning of in-app purchases is going to lead Nintendo to offer shortcuts for competitive Pokemon via money, since Champion should, in theory, curb hacking.

VGC is definitely overrun by hacked teams.

It was already confirmed when Champions got announced that the currency used to get mons and train them isn't purchasable with real money, so any in-app purchases are likely to be cosmetic like trainer clothes or additional music. The closest thing to a shortcut would be the extra box space mentioned, but if someone is going into competitive Pokemon they have Home for that already

I'm I wrong, or did they absolutely show nothing of changing the trainer character's look or outfit that whole time?

This and the FRLG ports are probably the only recently released Pokémon titles that'll tide me over until Winds/Waves comes out.

i'm guessing by "hacked" you mean "genned" mons but how is champions not considered genning? like you are literally going to be able to create entire teams just via the recruitment function and then modify said mons nature, ability, stats, and moveset? I thought the big complaint when it comes to these "hacked" teams is that the mons are not obtained "properly"(whatever that meant).

There's still a slight difference insofar as doing all that requires VP gotten through playing the game, so there is still a technical time investment involved. But yeah, if there's one massive positive of Champions it's that it's completely bulldozing the idea of genning being some horrific evil because you're not going into a game and catching them with a pokeball lol

5:24. The left-side menu also shows the categories "Clothing," "Accessories," and "Hair & Cosmetics."
